Sterling will be a massive loss
I hope he sees sense and stays and fights for his place
I find it amusing how everyone suddenly rates Alvarez as a world beater
I suspect the majority had never heard of him until he signed
He is now in the hardest league in the world I hope he succeeds
Whereas Sterling has already done so
Staying and fighting for his place is good, but if he won't sign a new contract then its better to cash in with a year left.

If we kept Sterling and Jesus, that would put us in a position that those 2 can leave for free in a year, along with Gundog and Mahrez who are also out of contract in a year.

You can't run a football club like that.

Alvarez can come in and do the squad role that Gabby was doing.....like we have no idea how goods he's going to be but everything you hear about the player it sounds like he's the real deal

So maybe he's not as good as Sterling or Gabby, but he can fill in I'm sure....and who knows, he may be even better than we think....we will at least have pre-season to have a look at him, sure that if Pep sees over pre-season he won't cut it a replacement will be brought in

I'm also sure that we have a list of targets as we've known Jesus/Sterling/Mahrez we're entering the final 12 months so I'm sure we've planned to replace them

But surely if both Gabby and Raheem are going this summer....SURELY there is a 0% chance Bernardo goes....right?

Bernardo is the only player im truely 'worried' about leaving as everyone else,
(Who have been linked with a move) Jesus, Sterling, Gundogan, Ake, Zinch, Mahrez etc. Can be replaced...I can't see how we can replace Bernardo
yep atleast Alvarez can atleast fill the role of gabby/sterling on the right wing even though not as good. but if we lose bernardo there is no way to replace him from within the squad without going into the transfer market.

What about that lad from Rennais? Doku I think his name is. Rapid pace. Anyone have any info on this player?

Totally agree
Sign stay and fight or it’s time to sell
I fully understand that
But to suggest he is easily replaceable is in my opinion foolish
We should be doing all we can to keep him

I agree with what you say about Raheem.

As for Alvarez, i would think the club are obviously going to ease him into things, but it will depend on the player too.
You're right, I had never heard of him, but i have watched him since and the lad is a natural goalscorer.
Apparently the opposition hasn't been great, however his movement looks great and instinctive and some of the goals he's scored have been top notch.
I don't care what league he plays in, but if he's given the space he's been getting, then no keeper in the world are stopping some of his strikes.

How do you know we haven't?

We could have offered him a contract and he rejected it

The guy is already on £300k a week, he's obviously been treated very very well by the club

But maybe he's asking for £400k+ a week, or a hugeee loyalty bonus that we this is unreasonable

Or maybe he wants a guaranteed first spot which Pep obviously doesn't think he can promise him (as shown by a lack of minutes in the big games/champions league)

He's not "easily replaceable", but he is replaceable...much more so now than he was 3/4 years ago when he was a key player and first name on the team sheet (which got him the £300k contract he's on right now)

We don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but I'm sure the club explored the possibility of keeping him and for whatever reason the decision has been made (it appears) that Sterling will move on

If we sign Phillips and Cucurella, then losing Jesus, Sterling and Zinchenko wouldn't be too bad because:

Haaland > Jesus.
Alvarez < Sterling (although Alvarez will eventually surpass Sterling).
Phillips > Fernandinho.
Cucurella > Zinchenko.

Also, Palmer will likely have his breakthrough season which will ease Sterling's departure.
Nah. Alverez is better than Sterling, as you will soon find out. He is the real deal.

Alverez: Great movement and a stunning sense of where the goal is and doing the unexpected to beat a keeper. He's not SA player of the year for nothing.

Sterling won't be replaceable, but as long as we have Pep I'm not as worried. We will just find another way to play. When we lost Aguero his goals weren't replaceable. But Pep this year put KDB more central with the lack of a striker in the box.
So like he says sometimes you have to shake. I'm excited to see Alvarez, but I'm tempering my expectations because of the step from South America to England. But I know Pep already has plans on how he wants to play without Sterling and Jesus.

Grealish was 4th in the league in expected assists per 90. Only behind KDB, TAA, and Salah. He was 2nd in the league in shot creating actions per 90 behind KDB. He led the league, by far, in carries into the penalty area (88 vs Salah 71). He's absolutely a creator and with Haaland his assist tally will surely shoot up.
Post of the day. Saved me doing it.

Grealish + Haaland is the link up to look out for next season.

Grealish is doing really well but if it’s not a goal or an assist to a goal that’s the end of the argument for some. If only footy were that simple as passing the individual “eye test” of people who reckon things.

It's really quite embarassing how quick some fans are to try and sell everyone as better than Sterling.

Not only have we had half a dozen players come through the side and leave who were supposed to displace him and failed, now we have academy players and kids who've not kicked a ball outside South American football being paraded around as better than him.

Laugh if you want but he is the real deal. The way he beats a keeper to score is something you see very, very rarely in world football.

Oh and the fact he will be playing with elite players and he will be coached by pep and he will have a top 3 striker itw playing beside him

Guys gonna be immense and I’ll die on this hill

Alvarez does look good but completely unproven at European Top 5 league Level. He could still be a huge hit but right now he couldn’t hold a candle to Sterling nor should we expect him too.
