Raz has been good for us but it's time to move on,he needs a change, and we are definitely changing with the Viking up front. Pep has sold everybody that a false 9 is the way to go, watch the others all emulate that now , same as when Pep introduced A keeper that played better with his feet than hands (not a dig at Eddie) everybody thought they needed a keeper like Eddie, you could see goalies trying to be him! Pep is gonna change football in England again.

Better than all of them in the PL.

Sterling 13 goals & 5 assists

Grealish 3 goals & 3 assists
Mahrez 11 goals & 5 assists
Foden 9 goals & 5 assists
Bernardo 8 goals & 4 assists.
Can't deny that output looks good, but may it also be noted that (assuming those figures are correct) we paid £300k a week for 13 goals & 5 assists in the PL from Raz.

On the other hand the 31 goals & 17 assists from the other 4 players cost us £372k per week, total.

It should be noted Raz achieved his figures in 2127 mins of football, compared to the 8147 total mins by the other 4. So whilst Raz achieved better numbers than the others, he did it with slightly more time on the pitch than the others (on average) and those numbers cost us a darn sight higher premium.

Granted Foden will likely get another £100k per week if he signs a new contract, but you can see why there's an expectation put on Raz, financially, that he just isn't quite meeting. The player of a couple of seasons ago would be worth every penny.

Don't think for a second the stats guys at the club haven't weighed up these same numbers and offered Raz a deal they think is reasonable. If we can get £50-60m for him I'd say it's fantastic business.

Where are you getting 372k per week for grealish, foden, mahrez and Bernardo? There's no chance, that's puts all 4 players on less than 100k a week average.

Grealish himself is reported to be on 300k. You don't get a British record signing on cheap wages.

Stats need sources. Personally I’m wondering what the English tax will be on Sterling given Jesus is reported to be going for 45m and the circumstances seem comparable.

I think with a year left on his contract we aren't in a position to stick an English tax on in case he just decides leave to leave on a free and stick the English tax in his back pocket. I'd personally accept 40 and save 300k a week wages. Anymore than 40 is a bonus

Probably Arsenal are overpaying based on their desire to be saved too.

Fuck me I’ve seen some utter shite on this thread but you just might take it.

Just looking at his PL games last season.

He scored 13 goals:
4 v Norwich
3 v Newcastle
2 v Wolves
2 v Leicester
1 v Everton
1 v Watford

That's 5 goals against teams that were relegated and 4 against teams that were in the relegation battle most of the season.

Against the other top 6 clubs he started 5 games and came on as a sub in 3 others (he didn't feature at all v united). He had 452 minutes in those 8 games against the other top six clubs and didn't score a single goal.

I must admit I don’t get thus argument in football.

You have to look at every goal in the context of the game rather than the opposition.

Its more difficult at times for our players to score against the lesser teams than it is against the elite teams.

Some of Sterling’s goals last season were important goals. The winner v Wolves, the first v Everton, Norwich, Watford and Newcastle. Who knows how those games would have gone if Sterling had not broken the deadlock?

Really emotional watching that, John's a giant amongst men. His love for all sports shines through. Testimony to John's professionalism that many Blues didn't realize he's a fellow traveller! Shame his son's such git, whenever I've been unfortunate to speak with him.

God bless John.

So….. I’d Raheem leaving us or not? He must be in limbo poor lad.

Please stay Raz don’t let the nay sayers get to you kiddo.
He can easily do that by signing the contract that has been gathering dust for a year or so.

Don't hold your breath :)
