I’m not. It’s a very rousing hymn when used properly.

It doesn’t have the same effect if used every day though.

First used in the 2005 Ashes series to spur them on to victory.

Using it on day 4 of a test that we’re 250 behind in probably won’t have the same effect.

Am I right in thinking that it used to be sung before Cup Final kick-off at the old Wembley?

Not really. We need over 300 in the 4th innings already.

Whilst it’s technically possible for us to smash them off in 60 overs again, I somehow doubt it will happen here.

Uneven bounce and they have a decent spinner too.

I was more meaning that there's a glimmer, whereas if the chase is 400, it would be all but impossible.

Of course an over of Broad to Bumrah, and they will be there anyway

Finally have tickets for finals day in the blast.5 yrs since we last attended. Now discovered Lancs will lose half the side v Essex. So wont get to see them at finals day.
Looks like the Ecb are not bothered about the blast anymore.Surrey going to lose a few players too.
Surely we want the best players on show on finals day.

On that pitch with those Indian bowlers we have a 1 in 25 chances of getting those runs key are Stokes Bairstow Root all need to get 75+ at least

Now this is where if Buttler was opening he could make a big difference.
Buttler for Crawley later in the summer?

In the sense that he’d be as likely to get out to a loose stroke?

If you want all out attack, bin Lees and play Buttler and play Livingstone instead of Leach.

You‘d lose 95% of games, but they’d be fun to watch.

I just think it's the way test cricket is going, this is the template we have set and I think other teams will quickly follow suit. WIll it work? probably not all the time but maybe this is the future.
Maybe 4 day tests in future too?

Not sure how Jos would fare as an opening batsman in test cricket. It's a very tough job what with the new ball and all that and would be a world of difference to opening in ODI and T20 cricket. That said, it seems to always be our middle order bailing us out at the moment so maybe he's worth a go, especially if we're going to continue down the high-risk, fast scoring route. If anyone's got the balls to stick him in there, it'll be McCullum and Stokes

Nonsense. The Aussies tried this with Gilchrist etc. It’s high risk cricket and we don’t have a Warne or a McGrath.

If you want to see continuous smashing the ball around, the Hundred starts next month.
