It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

£50m seems to be the number Brighton want? Hopefully if Ake goes then it’s done quickly and we can have his replacement sorted.
Exactly, and I could have told you that a month ago, not rocket science, that’s what a top drawer full back gets priced at. Whether we can chip away with a £45mil plus add-ons or something of that ilk remains to be seen.

I would doubt it. City will buy an orthodox left back, whether it be Cucurella or someone else.

Still expect Cucurella to get done at a premium.
That’s good to hear, didn’t like the idea of replacing mendy and Ake with one player.

We’ve heard that City are ready to meet Brighton’s asking price for weeks now, I wonder what’s holding up the deal.

Agreed mate, it’ll get done but I’m sure we knew what the figure would be. Would have been better to have him here already and on the plane out to the states but hopefully in the next few days we get positive news!

I know City like a couple of the defenders at Leicester and they aren't named JFE.

Justin and Fofana have both been looked at, but both are predominantly right-footed?
Fofana is excellent, can’t see Justin being an option as he’s a fullback. Soyoncu isn’t overly dissimilar from Ake in style, but he’s lost form over the last couple of seasons, we did look at him as an option a few years back.

Fofana would cost a bomb though wouldn’t he?

Very much doubt that, wouldn't make much sense.

Think Pep trusts academy players to step up if we have injuries. With the likes of Palmer, McAtee, Delap, and other EDS talents our squad isn't small, especially if we sign both Cucu and a CB this window. If we have problems, we may sign players in January.

If Zinch prefers to go, we'll let him go. We won't sell him against his will, though, this I agree with.

Shades of grey in what we are both saying re zinch and the club wanting him to stay. Agree they wouldn't stand in his way, think they want him to stay though.

Black and white on Pep trusting young players for me though, Just no evidence of this at all, certainly not to come in under pressure when injuries hit the squad. There is only Foden, and he was eased in, with other players around him fit, and not thrown in for an injured regular. Nobody else got a look in at all, the odd token cameo here and there aside. Besides, delap mcatee and palmer don't play in defence so it is moot anyway.

Let's see how it plays out. Fully expect Zinch to stay, irrespective of Ake being replaced and with Cucurella coming in.
