Whilst that may be the general policy, there are obviously exceptions. We tried to get Messi last summer, after all, and Neymar is a fair bit younger. Not saying that I think it will necessarily happen, but Guardiola clearly rates him highly and Soriano has long wanted a global star to boost our profile overseas. I guess you could argue Haaland fits that profile, but Neymar would be on another level in terms of the attention it would generate, particularly in South America.

And we are running out of Brazilians

I just think this Neymar link is unsubstantiated bs. Two clubs in the prem would be interested, rags and Newcastle. Rags because they'd pay whatever, and Newcastle for a galactico signing, one they haven't made yet. He doesn't fit City's profile in any way shape or form, and if Pep was judging him in our last encounters with PSG then he'd be near the bottom of the pile for potential new players

To be serious - this is so wrong on so many football levels. I appreciate the business arguments, especially with us about to buy into a Brazilian club and the draw to bring special young Brazilian talent, but I can't bring myself to watch all the histrionics. I've never booed a sky blue shirt before. This really tests my 'in Pep we trust' principle, if true.

Not doubting 93:20 but I’m with you. I don’t personally see Neymar as a fit for us. On top of that, I don’t see how we get so late into the Summer and all of a sudden Neymar rocks up at City after zero links in the media.

Don't follow that much, but from what i've seen, often leaves a lot to interpretation and imagination. BM then does the rest.

I am not sure Newcastle would be interested, they have learnt from our early dealings (Robinhio) they seem to be doing things quietly and very cleverly.

Haven't watched him enough recently tbh but I am sure talent just doesn't disappear :-)

It maybe a mix of business ( as Ric said) + Pep believing that he can get Neymar back to his best.

I did read initially - that PSG were willing to send him out on loan AND pay part of his wages.

Relations between UAE & Qatar have improved recently - so if a deal has to happen , it definitely can.
