Do find it hard to fathom that we are the same club who spent £100 mil on grealish but won’t pay £50 mil for cucurella.

Yes I know grealish was a release clause but we didn’t have to target him. I said last summer I don’t think grealish is anywhere near worth £100 mil and I still don’t now. He doesn’t even get into our best starting line up

Where as £50 mil for a top quality lb seems a fair price to me. Especially as we have bought full backs for that price previously.

This is spot on

pep says in the media we are OK if we don't sign a left back, but the truth is clear we are short of a left back and the BIGGER teams will see it as our weakness and hurt us, wilson esbrand is an option, but again pep would never throw him in the deep end and play him as our main left back because of his age

just go a rewatch the Liverpool game from the weekend our defence at times got found out down the left
I never fancy cancelo playing left back in the bigger games and even the left centre back covers far too much because cancelo pushes up far too much and sometimes forget his defences' duty
For me his biggest defensive weakness is moving constantly into the middle of the defence and marks no-one, which gives players like Salah the freedom of the park and by fuck we were found wanting in that dept and not for the first time.

Yes, but also we start the season with the pairing that played most of last season and for the vast majority of games and were very good, no reason why they won't be this month.

And when they both get injured, as they both did last season, we now have only youngsters and and 3 centre half's (of the four we actually have) who can fill in at full back. Its an effing shambles.

this is why you do not run the club business. grealish is easily worth 100 mil while cucurella is not worth 50 mil

Omar Berrada and Txiki together tbh

There’s definitely an issue with them thinking we can get players cheaper than the club are willing to sell for Koulibaly, Kane and Cucurella 3 summers on the bounce.

Would you rather be banned from CL football for FFP violations?

The numbers have to work when everyone and their mother want City to fail under FFP.

You have a brain.. use it to think.. because there are financial traps everywhere.

Or have you forgotten that we got screwed with only 17 players in Europe because our numbers weren't good enough for FFP not that long ago.

Simple, because Pep wanted Grealish more than he does Cucurella. There is no other possible reason, apart from we dont have the money to pay more than £40m which is very unlikely.

One was a release clause, one wasn’t? This doesn’t come off as well as you thought.
Why?

We could have bought Kane , the manager very much wanted him, probably more than Haaland but been patient we have signed the best young striker on the planet for a 3rd of the price and Kane last season had a mare by his standards.

It’s a lazy statement thrown out there by our more entitled fans, who seem to think negotiation is nothing more than asking a selling club how much money they want - and then paying it immediately.

There are plenty of examples over the years of Txiki negotiating very good deals with no RC - Phillips this very summer would be a great example - or convincing clubs to accept less than the RC, of which Dias is a recent example.

The fact is he walks away from deals which fans have got themselves very invested in, and that causes frustration - so they lash out and claim he’s incapable of closing a deal.
Pretty much sums it up.

Well his knee was destroyed last season and Alonso is off to Barca. It’s not really baffling that they need him.
Okay, I'm not privy to what's going on there, but if they knew that then i'm surprised they didn't try to get him in before pre-season.

I'll be very happy if he walks away from this deal and delighted if he signs either AD, or TH for £100 million. If he takes a chance on Mendes, then great and backs that up by signing Grimaldo for £8 million, then marvellous.

If Chelsea are willing to pay Brighton asking price which seems very likely then Brighton weren't asking for too much money quite obviously.

Also can't comprehend how people think we'll be completely fine off. We aren't after a top LB to make the difference against Bournemouth, other players can step up in those games but once you got Salah, Vinicius or someone like that running at you then we will struggle. We saw it last season with Cancelo/Zin at LB or Ferna at RB when Walker was unavailable and will see it again in the matches that really matter if we don't upgrade. We saw it 2 days ago when Cancelo was being skinned alive.

All it takes is 1 injury to Walker and the team will be very vulnerable, that's not good squad planning. 10M saved this summer (which btw won't really be saved as next summer a top LB is gonna cost the same) won't look that important if we lose a trophy in a tight game where smallest of details matter. Looking at the LB or just fullback market in general from last 5 years and it is really difficult to find a good one, if anyone thinks it will be easier next year then that is extremely unlikely.

By being held to ransom we are just setting a precedent for the future, Brighton want to hang onto him if Chelsea or we meet the valuation, we don’t value him at £50m so walk away and let Chelsea try, there are more options out there without paying over the odss.
we don't appear to think there are, unless we have a wild card up our sleave, we do have history with those in saying that

They are both getting injured in the first week are they ? Is every other club all done ? Is this your first transfer window ?
