We’ll get a different left back then, why does it matter what it looks like. Did it matter when we pulled out of other players and bought alternatives. Why would it matter now.If we want quality that strengthens the side over a long season, then it costs.
It would be very disappointing if we baulk at paying about £50m to improve a clear weakness in our squad then Chelsea end up paying it and he improves them.
Not only does it make us vulnerable to even one injury to Cancelo or Walker over a 60 game season, but it makes us look smalltime while big bollocks Chelsea just pay what it takes.
Exactly. I've argued both sides now. I don't particularly trust us not to find a way to take one step forward and one step back. We've been doing that for years. But. It's nowhere near over.I don't know if any left back will be signed or not, but i'm pretty sure the next month will go something like some posters saying we need a left back now and others saying no need to hurry there is 4,3,2 oops only 1 week left and then the window is closed.
the player isnt you are correct but filling the position with quality is extremely important.Cucurella is good but it is hardly a make or break signing if we miss out
Selling Zin makes no difference. Most fans did not see him as a natural Lb. The amount of posts saying he was not good enough should be enough proof. It’s another stick to beat the club with. The lad wanted to go and city facilitated the move with no games or stipulations. If we hadn't sold Oleks, there wouldn't be half the hysteria on here.
But we did, alas.
I know he not, but that prick Bloom as you called him, has kept his word and it looks like hes £50+m better off.Thought Brighton fans would of fucked off to the Chelsea forum by now think it’s called The Shed, and told them chavs he’s definitely worth £55m or whatever that prick Bloom wants.
He did a perfectly adequate job as a stand in, when called upon. Would he be a starting LB? No, of course not. He's a natural midfielder (witness his performances for Ukraine). But he was never going to get a starting spot in there for us.Selling Zin makes no difference. Most fans did not see him as a natural Lb. He was not deemed good enough as a LB or he would still be here now.
Hes £103m. Buy out clause, Chelsea have first offer on him.Agreed Lamptey has impressed whenever I see him. Pity he's a RB/RWB. Then again, what would they want for him? At least the same as Cucurella?
You're disregarding the fee you paid for him then?I know he not, but that prick Bloom as you called him, has kept his word and it looks like hes £50+m better off.
103m? I'd expect Lamptey AND Cucurella for that wedge.Hes £103m. Buy out clause, Chelsea have first offer on him.
Cancelo is not or ever will be a left back, we could rotate walker and cancelo in the right back role

Ok £45m better off. You're disregarding the fee you paid for him then?
I admire your confidence; really, I do.Not so sure. If we hadn't sold him, there would be panic that we are going into the season without signing a LB. Now at least there's a broad acceptance we will bring someone in.
By all accounts Cucurella did a very good job on him in at least one of the two games last seasonThe truth is Cancelo playing at left back is fine for the majority of games against teams defending with 9 players.
Salah is brilliant he shows up most left backs, as he did on Saturday. I doubt Cucurella would do much better against him.
A left back tackling with his right foot will always have issues.
Also our tactics means the left sided forward doesn't double up defensively leaving the full back exposed especially against a World class performer.
