Couldn't be arsed good thing we already move on few days ago before this news broke out, can't blame on Cucu there when he already burned his bridge with Brighton and have no option except Chelsea who overpays not learning their lesson after Lukaku shenanigans.

like you said that is a separate deal. you paid 52.5 mil for someone worth 35 mil max and had half a good season.
You (as a Chelsea fan) not seeing it that way.

Wasn't a dig btw just a joke about blue spec's on :)

You are very possibly right but I suppose we all have blue specs on in here, slightly different shades and all :)

Imagine Cucu at CB against Haaland. That would be funny.

I'm not convinced Cucu's better than Chilwell at LWB (Chilwell was terrific before the injury), and at LCB he will be a bit too short to be a big success there. They will struggle at set pieces. Rudiger is a beast in the air, Koulibaly and Cucu ain't replacing that.
And they also have Marcus Alonso who plays there….maybe we could buy him. Classy player, good on the ball

Time will tell whether Chelsea got a good deal or not. Both with bring in Cucarella and selling Colwill.

Nature of transfers, we can always have our opinions but they don't count for much before a game has been played.

Personally, I don't care whether Chelsea or Brighton got a good or bad deal.

Due to the nature of this forum I’m not going to put myself in a position that gets me lynched. I apologise but it’s easier to say nothing here.

Something tells me you are going to get lynched anyway.

I said the other day, you find out something about the character of a player during prolonged transfer negotiations. I’m not using ‘character’ in a negative way, the lad wants to better himself, so fair play to him. I’m simply saying that having handed in a transfer request at a club who’ve done a lot for him, he didn’t really want to play for Manchester City did he? I could honestly see him being open to Barca when they come calling. Decent player, who would have suited us but happy to miss out and move onto the next target, all things considered.

I suppose Chelsea are paying for potential as well as belief in his current ability.
Chelsea normally do well with fullback signings...i think we should have paid up. I get the image thing is important in the market but we had a custom made LB waiting for us.

Fucked up? Ok.

Just remind me how we've got on these last two seasons without a recognised left footed left back?

If we fucked up you're the man.

When you're ready..
Not playing with recognised lb isn't a issue. We had two tested player at that position. When cancelo doesn't work, when Walker/cancelo gets injured, we bring zinchenko who was very good for us. Whether you acknowledge or not we need a zinchenko replacement. We cant go into the season with 2 tested FB.

Edit: I am not moaning about cucurella btw. As long as we get one we are good

yep underrated aspect. think we dodged a bullet.

No Chelsea are being mugged off for an average at best player. He wasn’t on anyones radar that mattered 12 month ago hence him ending up at Brighton. Give your head a wobble and put your dummy back in, stop believing the hype and thinking we missed out on some world class international when we haven’t.

Well done City. Absolute masters.

Chelsea just got burned.
Please can you det city to put a bid in for Locardia, weve trying to get rid of him for a year, just put a £30m bid in, leave ut a couple of days then walk, hopefulky Chelsea will then offer us £40.

Are Chelsea really that stupid to pay above £50m.

Got no problems missing out on Cucurella at that price. That is madness for a player off the back of one good season. Chelsea are hugely reliant on their full backs because of their formation so maybe makes sense for them, so they can cover Chilwell post-injury but whilst we need a left back we shouldn't be disappointed when the fee is that high.

You should be looking at someone with top CL performances on their CV for £50m.

Last 4 years Chelsea have spent nearly £500m on Lukaku, Havertz, Werner, Chilwell, Ziyech, Kovavic, Kepa & Pulisic.

The only signing over £30m in that period that you could call a success is Jorginho.

Looking at that it’s getting towards United territory for overspending.

Not including Sterling, Koubilaly & now Cucurella.
