If we ended up with De Jong and Phillips, we've pretty much covered off Bernardo's skillset. If you need non-stop running and tenacious tackling and pressing, pick Phillips. If you want to hog the ball and have deep lying creativity, go for De Jong.

Obviously you're not getting it in one player, but both also have their areas where they'd add more to the team.

Rodri, Phillips, De Jong, KDB, Gundogan is a fantastic selection of midfielders that lets you build any kind of midfield you want, for any formation or tactic.

I'd sooner end it with Bernardo but as I said earlier, I'm fed up of his constant pining for a club with worse prospects, in financial turmoil, a board who treat their current players like shit and a fanbase that won't award him the cult hero status he's claimed here. If he doesn't want to be here he can go. If he does, shut the rumours down and get on with it.
The only problem with that is De Jong stating he wouldn’t go to Manchester because of the climate weather.

Pep of course is a genius and we won those titles due to Pep's system..

In Pep's system some players are utilized at 100% and some players aren't using their full abilities..

P.S. And maybe you should be an idiot not to understand such simple things (Well.. you started it first, so got same response, next time you will be more polite maybe..)
That's why Bernardo should be replaced during this transfer window.. Maybe that Matheus guy or Paqueta ? Personally I would go for Maddison..
I know Pep’s a genius but Maddison wtf? Not sure if it’s me who’s the idiot.

I would piss myself laughing if they couldn't register them and had to pay them millions to sit on their arse.
they had this last year and still managed....its all complete bullshit....they will register them and they will play.....and they will continue to buy as well....

Dortmund were never selling Bellingham this summer just like they were never selling Haaland last summer when Chelsea offered £100m.

Their business model relies on regular big sales, it doesn't work if you sell everyone in the same summer.

2023 - Bellingham
2022 - Haaland
2021 - Sancho
2020 -
2019 - They got €120m from 8 players
2018 - Pulisic + Aubameyang
2017 - Dembele

I had never noticed this before, but yeah, makes sense I suppose

If and it’s a big if at the moment due to Barcelona’s financial problems. I would take the swap with de jong.He is a tidy player with a wide ranging skill set. Yes we will not be able to replace some of Bernie’s traits and will need to evolve the midfield. No player is irreplaceable.

If I was City, I would grab the bull by the horn and do the swap plus Barca pay us £50m. Get Bellingham next season and we have an awesome set of midfielders.

He wants out so do it on our terms. We can’t fear change.

He won’t want to take a wage cut and his current wages would disrupt our current structure (even if the Bernardo money would subsidise the new expense), so I can’t see it happening.

Not to mention there is no guarantee Barca can even meet any financial obligations for a Bernardo transfer.

What player do you swap considering de Jong is on ridiculous wages as it is and wouldn't want to drop too much salary?
