Dear Rishi Sunak And Liz Truss An Open Letter From The England Womens Football Team

Why shouldn’t there be a choice though? There’s a finite amount of money available, and my post was highlighting the fact that the WSL is already receiving millions of pounds worth of subsidies, money which could alternatively be spent on playing fields. If the FA chooses to subsidise a professional women’s league - which current levels of demand would not sustain - then choices have to be made in terms of funding.

With their statement, the England players are essentially asking for their preference to be prioritised over all other areas of public expenditure, including providing assistance for heating bills this winter and helping to maintain a decent living wage for key public sector workers, given the rise of inflation. I think the statement shows a lack of self-awareness given the pressures facing the country.
How about we halve the funding for boys' football and spend the other half on girls' football?

How about spending money on boys and girls football, tackling child obesity, and only having a professional women’s league if the demand actually exists?

How about the government spending its money this winter on preventing pensioners from freezing to death, or making sure intensive care nurses can actually afford to feed their families? Or should we just let the England women’s football team decide where taxpayer money is spent now?

Hard to disagree with you on those points.

But only a few posts ago you were talking about taking a short-term hit in favour of a long-term gain.

Funding the WSL at a loss now:

- Allows the national team to be professional
- Making them better
- Enabling them to win an international tournament
- Drawing interest and crowds
- Attracting sponsors
- Bringing more money into the game
- Pushing the league towards financial viability

Not to mention the work that having sportswomen in the public eye does to get girls into sport and so help tackle child obesity.

I agree that there are a whole load of things the government should be spending more money on. I don't think the creation of a load of new sports facilities should necessarily be a priority right now (although I would have chosen not to sell off all those school sports fields). But generally speaking, more (and more accessible) places where children and teenagers can safely exercise and socialise is good for health, education and crime, amongst other areas you may be concerned about.

And a curriculum change that pushes for all sports a school provides to be available for both boys and girls isn't a big outlay.

Teenage girls drop out of sport at a jaw-dropping rate, and it's terrible for both physical and mental health. More availability of the sports they enjoy might help reduce the burden on the NHS as well as develop the next generation of professional footballers.

I don’t disagree on the issue of sports facilities for children and adults as well for that matter - but I still maintain that the statement was poorly judged and in particular poorly timed. There is a trade-off in terms of funding and will be as long as the WSL is subsidised.

I’m not ignorant to the loss-leader argument around it, I just question how long it can continue if attendances don’t improve. Ultimately though I suppose we’ll learn a lot over the next couple of years in relation to crowds and whether the league can become truly sustainable.

I believe there is a forum for politics on Blue Moon. That could be the place to spew forth your National Socialist views? JSL!
And we have a winner. You haven’t a fucking clue what I’m talking about, or what national socialism is.

Free care for the elderly
Tuition fees waved
Free prescriptions
Paid the bedroom tax for people
Baby boxes for new mums
Free school meals for kids
Renationalised our railways
Wants immigration, we need it.
Wants to be part of European Union
Wants rid of Trident, nazis love a missile.
Hates Trump, biggest Nazi since Hitler, only fatter and thicker than a whale sandwich.
Hate Tories, the real national socialists. In its truest form. Flag waving and shagging, the Empire, the good old days when we gave Johnny Foreigner a bloody nose and ruled most of Bongo Bongo Land, as Bawbag put it.
Replaced Labour as actually left wing.

Can you see where I am going with this? If you want to post a political point? Here’s a tip. Understand what you are talking about. Your failure to differentiate a part of a name of a party and it’s actual political ethos that is quite frankly embarrassing. How the fuck can you reach whatever age you are and think the SNP are Nazis? Scottish National Party had a shady and disgraceful period in the 30’s, that was nearly a century ago. It’s not the same. Anyway, have a lovely evening.

If you hate the English so much, and it screams out loud almost every single post you make, why are you here? Maybe cullallthesassenachbastards.com might be more your kind of thing.

I don’t hate the English. I love the cunts. I hate Tories. Not all English are Tories. Too many for my liking, but heh ho.

You are so aggressive when you go political.

It doesn't suit you
