It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Whilst we are all aware of Cancelos' poor defensive qualities, coupled with the teams need for a natural LB, would we still be as concerned had we not lost in the manner we did to the Dippers last week? I think that we worry more about Peps laid back attitude to positional play and often odd team selection which doesn't help?

Penny for Chilwell's thoughts?

We tried to sign him previously and would not mind us chancing our arm.

I would even try a cheeky bid for Luke Shaw if it was lower than £20m. He is running down his deal.
Pre leg break Shaw was high quality, never the same since that, apart from a 6 month period around the Euro's.

Seems to have a serious lack of professionalism, so a big no from me.

Chilwell was quality but he would be a huge risk after a serious injury and a possible Mendy mark II.

Reports of Barca not being able to register their new signings (laughably including Dembele who is classed as a new signing because they let his contract expire) even if the 4th lever is activated.

They’re relying on players taking more pay cuts and deferred wages. Those players will look at what they’re doing with FDJ and say ‘fuck right off’ - they’ve already done it with the players who would seemingly do anything for the club (Pique, Busquets, Alba etc.) so struggle to see how any of the others without a major connection to the club will be willing to be thrown under the bus like FDJ has been.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer club…

its amazing that any player with any sense actually wants to go there currently?

Yet I will bet you they will get all their new players registered, and add one or two more.

Not sure that's true.

A player signs a contract, that's a legally binding document, it has to be paid and the only way it won't be paid is if the club goes bankrupt, that simply will not happen.

Another scenario, the player is not paid so he becomes a free agent and thus would make a shit load of money signing for a new club on a free with huge wages/signing on fee.

And as said earlier, despite obviously having obvious issues, FC Barcelona are still a huge, iconic club, huge gates, stunning location and still pay huge wages.

but they are currently 150m euros over their allowed salary cap with what they have at the minute? they are demanding players take pay cuts to allow more players to be registered, would you accept that as a player? half your wages so they can give it to another player? Tebas is a **** but hes going to do barca no favours and if they dont get their wages down then they are in shit street with la liga and punishments will happen while paying kounde, lewa and many others not even playing as they cant be registered?

I admire the way Tebas is trying to do something about spiraling wages, debt etc in his league but someone is going to have to give in, and it ain't going to be Barca.

No way is Laporta going to spend borrowed cash on players than won't be allowed to be registered.

The whole situation is weird and someone is clearly not telling the real story but I still maintain Barca are still a huge draw for top players and always will be.

The recent "signing" of kounde proves that, a deal with Chelsea and playing in the Premier league on top money but he rejects that to go to Barca.

Yep, whether we like it or not, Barcelona are an iconic club and a huge draw for players
