West Ham United (A) | Sun 7th Aug | Post Match Thread

Obviously Haaland needs to work on his heading, but if that cross from Grealish had been low he would have toe-poked in for his hat trick. Once we make those small adjustments the sky is the limit. What a time to be a blue!

A bit rusty, a bit sluggish at the beginning, but completely in control once we settled. Haaland, Grealish & DeBruyne almost telepathic. Haaland will score plenty, of that there is no doubt. ‘The Striking Viking’ they called him on commentary.

But all the pundits said Haaland wouldn’t score goals using his pace…

Incredible league debut. Unreal finishes, pace, power, great link up play and some lovely passes.
Thats what I dont get about these pundits.....

Even in the last 4-5 seasons there have been so many times when we have hit teams on the break. We control a lot of the game nearly every game but we still have to defend at times and when we broke up the play we then broke on team. It was not exactly a rarity and it happened today

You’re a joke !
We should have just gave you the 3 points or played our reserves
More gutted Antonio and Fab are injured - really could of done without that

What to say about City ? Just a completely different level, every player world class
Hopefully both those guys aren’t seriously hurt. Didn’t look too awful.

Blimey bbc now calling for Erling to be fined
Erling Haaland has just dropped some blue language in his interview with Sky, describing missing out on a hat-trick as a bit... well, you can have a guess.

Upon being asked to mind his language, he accidentally said it again in exclamation.

Don't know if City have a fines system like Steven Gerrard has instilled at Villa, but that's gonna be costly to him if so.
simple solution, in future Erling does BBC pressers in Norwegian. :)

Why is everyone bringing Raz into it? He has gone, and without his last minute goals no centurions, and without his cross to Gundo, we would probably going into the season as runners up
Because it's a reasonable comparison. I like Raz too but the number of one on ones he missed was, well, lets be kind and just say not what you would expect from the class of player we want to have.

I liked that it was patient today. It was narrow for me but then I understood why as they game wore on.

I know everyone will rave about Haaland, as they should, however, the defence deserve some credit today. Switched on, played the offsides nicely and defended resolutely when it was time to.

The attack will click better as the lads play more matches. We know they’re still a but undercooked but it’s exciting thinking of when it fully clicks. Hope that display boils a lot of piss of the pricks in media and forums near and far.
