Probably just the space & time he had would have almost certainly led to a Sterling brain fart. Sterling was never good when presented with enough time to think, when it was done instinctively he generally did well. Whereas as soon as we saw him skin the defender everyone expected haaland to score.

NOBODY IS comparing them, we're just saying we now have a player who is more likely to score those chances, like the 2nd goal today. We know Sterling isn't an out and out striker and never will be.

What I will say is would you rather we'd kept Sterling instead?

Wow just wow. Sensational away performance. For the first time since Yaya or Mario I wasn't hiding behind the settee when we got the penalty. They were all fantastic but goals win games and Alfie's lad didn't disappoint. The lad has ice in them veins of his.

Very impressive performance and one that bodes very well for the season.

Excellent performances all over the pitch. Thought Rodri and Ake were particularly strong.

Brilliant start from Haaland. His movement is outstanding but he also brings that burst of pace and brute strength we have been missing.

Looks ominous for the rest of the division.

Still need a proper LB though.

We do have different opinions, but what's the point of saying sterling would have done this or wouldn't have done that?

Because Raz got in them positions quite often and usually fluffed them. Other players have missed similar one on ones but Raz with his pace and his movement found himself through more times and because he isn't a natural striker and didn't have that killer instinct like Brut has he dilly dallied and usually got blocked or the chance went begging.

Haaland is winning the golden boot. He is a monster. The KDB link up with Erling is beautiful. There were still a few moments where we should have played it through sooner but we did it far more than last week. Grealish and Walker were shit first half but were excellent second half. Rodri is soon be coming Busquets level class.

The tactics today really surprised Moyes. Pep’s conversation with Ferguson a while back resonated. You have to keep refreshing the squad, so that the message doesnt become stale. We are seeing the benefits of the team overhaul.
