South Stand level 1 refurbishment

i'm in 119 and it looked exactly the same as it did last year ? is this new bar area in a different section? , the only change i saw was the new branding behind the existing bar areas. talks of new seating area's and even a DJ booths no where to be seen.
I'm in 121. It's further down the south stand, probably in between 115-116, but built into its own space.. Lots of neon blue, feels more like a big sports bar in town, a decent spot to watch the match before and grab food. Will be very useful on winter night games as well.

That floor was a death trap. Two part epoxy with no polymer grip to stop slips and falls. It was an accident waiting to happen. I genuinely hope you sued whoever put it down and got a big payout.

I did but it took four long stressful years. The problem was there was four companies involved. City and three contractors, the one who took the job on and two subcontractors who were involved in the work. All denied liability. They got an independent assessor to inspect the work and his findings were the paint wasn't mixed correctly meaning it wasn't non slip. The worst section was the part I slipped on which of course helped my case. Eventually they settled out of court.

The irony was if the club had taken my concerns and complaint seriously and met me so I could show them where I slipped and did something about it I would never have gone to a solicitor. They didn't though. The woman I reported it to never even replied to my original email. She phoned me up when somebody here intervened. She was then too busy to meet me and said she would contact me when she came back from Seville with the team. She didn't so I got bloody mad and contacted a solicitor. In the meantime I watched countless other people take heavy falls in the same area I fell in and who were left in considerable pain as a result. I advised them to report it. To this day I've never received an apology from the club for my injuries or even a free bottle of tap water. If they'd have met me, showed some concern, sorted the floor out and maybe gave me a free hospitality ticket that would have been the end of it. They didn't so I took them on and won.

no matter what the club do we always find something to moan about

It's the nature of the beast. Yesterday, on one of the few red hot days we get at a game in this country, they failed miserably. They had advance warning of the heatwave yet not only could they not organise some free bottles of water for an ageing fanbase, some of the dipshits they employ were refusing to fill water bottles up. At the final whistle all the catering outlets were shut as people faced a long walk in extreme heat, or traveling on hot crowded public transport. They could have made an announcement that they would be open to fill water bottles only. Less gimmicks and more practical useful action would be appreciated.

I’m glad you won your case / settlement mate. You were treated shoddily.

I am hoping that we are beginning an improved relationship between “the Club” and fans with Roel de Vries, as Group Chief Operating Officer. We’ve seen these new bars in the South Stand and cut price tickets for juniors in recent times.

It has felt over recent years (on here and other forms of social media) that if you are ITK or have a Vlog or YouTube Channel you get Special treatment and the rest of us aren’t valued that much. Hopefully, that is changing or I have read the situation wrong.

I know we get a wall of defenders if anyone criticises one the Club’s Directors on here but it’s not all down to Keyset Sose Soriano when things go wrong.

We are looked after in the OSC so I’ve sometimes avoided the worst examples of “customer service”.

That is a PR disgrace paulchapo. Hope they feel embarrassed. If someone could be arsed to do something positive after all these years mate.

I wandered down half way through the first half looking if anywhere was open providing water, so was empty then, has a nice sized bar, the dj booth, some limited seating and vending machines in the corner, nice enough but with it being in that area by the time any south standers wander up from 119-123 at HT it will be full so cannot seee bothering with it when I have food and drink outlets near me to use.

Not really arsed about hearing the dj, the bar in the away end at elland road that used to be in the home was more to my taste than this if honest.

I was concerned that it didn't happen to anybody else. In spite of what happened to me and lots of other people falling and sliding all over the place they did nothing about if for months. I was told I was lucky I landed on the front of my head and not the back or it could have been a lot worse. I suffer the health implications even now, not severe but enough to be irritating on occasion.

Thanks, there was times I wish I'd never started a claim but once I feel wronged I am like a terrier I will fight to the bitter end whatever the outcome.

They are trying to improve things but a lack of communication and poor staff on the frontline means it often doesn't happen, yesterday's water fiasco being a perfect example.

There’s always a lot to moan about. Plus it’s not necessarily moaning, it’s feedback. Constructively negative and justified feedback can be better for a business than everyone saying they’re happy when there are things they get wrong. With it all really geared to the same want of fans and the club to be the best they can be all round.

Off the pitch, City do a hell of a lot of things wrong, or don’t do things they should.

From problems with trying to phone the club (extended hold times, being cut off when approaching #1 in the queue, not having questions answered), allowing people to buy points (still can’t believe Platinum exists, never been right), not allowing people to take food or drink into the stadium when football fans have been doing that for decades, being reactive rather than preemptive to one-off situations, poor/slow staff behind the food+drink stalls, inconsistencies around the ground, poor and inconsistent transport and road system around the ground, years of price rises well above the rate of inflation seeing long standing fans priced out and fall away, kicking people out of their seats to create a Family Stand and corporate areas, selling tickets on ticket tout/tour sites instead of ensuring proper City fans are attending games, letting the surroundings to the stadium get into a state, taking us into the European Super League… and probably loads more, some less trivial than ones I’ve mentioned, some more.

We rightly laud our clubs for everything they get right (and there are probably double the amount of things we get right than wrong) but we should also rightly complain about things that aren’t right.

City will want to hear this negative feedback. They sent me an email with a survey on after the game yesterday. It asked for scored between 0-10 on various things about yesterday’s game, and asked where I think they could improve because they also want to hear what they’re getting wrong and where to improve on it.

From negative feedback or putting pressure on for things the club didn’t do, City have brought in Friends&Family added to our profiles on the ticket site, a system to re-list tickets for games we can’t attend so seats aren’t left empty, safe standing has been brought to the stadium, cheaper tickets like Value Gold (although there are nowhere near enough),

I had to hold the coach up for half an hour after the game when a friend went to pick up a bag that was marginally over A4 (and virtually empty). The queue was enormous.

Maybe she shouldn’t have brought the bag but the visitor wanted to take souvenirs back to Norway.

Like you say, I’m sure lots of effort is going into improving things (and we are lucky see the best team in the World). I even benefitted from a bit of chaos yesterday getting 2 lagers for the price of one.
