The Boxing thread

This is an odd take to have on a boxing thread on a football forum populated by City fans.

If only this whole forum was about being a Manchester City fan commenting on being a Manchester City fan on a forum. What a delightful level playing field we'd all be on.

I think it was because 4 or 5 pages back some went overboard and saying Joshua has always been rubbish, could be beaten by today's Tyson, etc.

The afters were a bit bizarre.

Thought AJ looked great though. No shame in losing to Usyk. Money’s on Fury to go undisputed…

Don’t think he’s nearly as good as he’s been made out to be, though. Always seen him as more of an athlete than a boxer, if that makes sense?

Tonight’s the first time I’ve actually doubted that take though. He looked really good, just beaten by a special talent.

Fair enough.

He's a good finisher and if he doesn't get hit by that ruiz haymaker after knocking him down then I think he's a different fighter today, more aggressive perhaps.

Or maybe Usyk is really really good.

"He’s 32 nearing 33" and not dead. He can still unpick issues and as we all saw, he's improved in areas.

Learning something new is not past him.

Boxers go on to 40, these days, if they want to.
They can yes but I’m not sure it’ll be enough to win him another world title unless the other two properly retire. I would like to see him and Wilder go at it

Lol he has took hits to the head in lots of fights, he embarrassed himself post fight no excuses.

It was embarassing but he could have been concussed. Not seen it in boxing but seen it in MMA where afterwards the losing fighter acts all hyper and out of character.

Those that don't like him with have a good laugh though.

That 1% is actually getting in the ring.

So we can't comment on Joshua because he would beat us in a fight?

Joshua fanboys out in force tonight! He got schooled TWICE by the master technician. He was "slightly" better than the first fight...Still completely outclassed.
Talk of him fighting Wilder next...Wilder puts him to sleep within 6 rounds. Or am I allowed say that?
l just don't know where the split decision came from.

Nearly everyone apart from a judge had Usyk winning unanimously, I aint no boxing expert but you didn't need to be to see that.

Apart from Round 9 Usyk seemed to be able to contain Joshua, although Joshua did land a tremendous punch in I think R4.... which Usyk rode very well.

Breaking . . . Kevin Keegan congratulates Anthony Joshua on capturing his title for the World's Most Embarrasing TV Tantrum. Keegan, the former England, Newcastle and Manchester City manager won the award in 1996.

I have never had any time for the horrible ****,but after watching that post fight cringworthy debacle....i have to think he isn't wired right - a combo of huge punches to the head and years of heavy gear use has probably seen to that.

The fella needs better people around him,he clearly needs help, otherwise i only see a spiral.

Fair play to Usyk,a great and deserved champ.
