Liz Truss

Oh, glory be.

Our roads are going to be built faster!

I watched her speech, and it's like she's just woken up after some sort of dystopian dream.

Somehow, she is going to magically fix everything that is currently wrong with the country. It was very uplifiting and super positive.

12 years of tory rule have fucked everything up to the point of no return, and here we have our new Prime Minister, promising to right the wrongs her partry have inflicted on us.

Everything is going to be better, she said. Why didn't you think that way 12 years ago and act accordingly, you dizzy twat.

As ever with the tories, it's jam tomorrow. Their dreadful record of mismanagement will continue unabated, but thanks Liz, for tacitly admitting the incompetence the government you have been a part of has been recognised.

It's just hollow words that mean nothing, as always.

We've all known middle management creeps at work who'd swap hymn sheets to fit in with the boss, all the time coveting the top job for themselves.

Despite being warned not to do it Truss has replaced Johnson sycophants with her own sycophants it's another populist government without the charisma. As much as I despised Thatcher for what she did I was reminded yesterday of the cabinet she had from the moderates of Ken Clarke, and Hesseltine to the headbangers of Lawson and Howe. She governed with a broad church of personnel.
The only bright spot in all this is that she has not got that lock to really fuck things up until the next GE.

Did I hear Ed Balls on GMB this morning say that freezing the energy cap will immediately bring inflation down?

If so, is this pure coincidence that this month's inflation figure is used for pension and benefit rises

This is the political default, from every spectrum of every party. I wonder why these politicos don't apply for the managership of, say, Oldham Athletic or Rochdale. Five or six years of super footy ending with a staggering CL win. She's vacant, void, and vacuous. We will get two years of this 'magic wand' which, at its conclusion, will have delivered fuck all - apart from eye-wateringly remunerated jobs for the people who were cheering her speech yesterday!

I doubt it would have an effect so soon to be honest. If anything, I expect the next inflation figure to be higher than the one announced last month.

Alternatively, she doesn’t have long enough to improve matters before the next GE.
Based on her performance so far as a minister she could have taken over from Johnson as soon as he got his 80 seat majority and still fuck it up. The women is economically illiterate which doesn't help when you are about to go into a deep recession and a cost of living crisis.
The embarrassing thing for me is that she was in the same profession as me and was a member of the same institution as I am, and still doesn't know her arse from her elbow in terms of finance and economics.

As she purges the cabinet of dissenting voices, she is alienating a lot of her own party.
There is going to be some serious plotting and planning from some serious Tory heavyweights on her own back benches.

more members of the CWU voted for strike action than members of the Tory party voted to put he in charge of the whole country !!

We need a competition for how long as a PM
I’ll call 5 months 22 days.
Well, going off history, things may get a little worse for a while, but there is hope...

Jacob Rees Swales has successfully overseen the replacement of Boris Ball with Liz Coppell, so perhaps it won't be too long before there is a resurgence from rock bottom under Kier Royle.

Agreed. How much coal do we still have?

Do we go with fracking?

When does Sizewell C get finished?

Perhaps we have to also move back the green energy targets?

We can all see the energy companies and oil firms make it up as they go along.

$8 is the break even on a barrel of oil in the UAE...

I'd rather we spent £300bn nationalising the fucking lot of them, than going another £100bn in the hole for nothing tangible beyond six months.
Far too sensible!!!

Why spend the money renationalising for long term benefit when instead we can spend all that money and have nothing to show for it except debt!
