Just been chatting to some old school hardman in a pub in town who I met through a friend and he was telling some stories about the Noonans. I'm from Rochdale so never lived in the areas they were about in but I've been to prison a few times and known a few proper lads from Manchester so I know the stories from them but that's where it ends. Just tales. Some of the stuff he was saying was next level though. Fascinating and scary stuff. Some of it seemed like whiskey tales though.

Anyone on here know much about what went on as he was saying all sorts about how there's people saying they ran Manchester but then he gave a few names and said these people would disagree.

They were thick fucks. When the nonce Noonan was killed Des Noonan walked into First Bus depot in Cheetham Hill and demanded a double decker bus was put on, free, for the funeral. The Operations Manager, not knowing who Dessy was told him to fuck off. He did.
The real hard men of Manchester were the lads from Salford and I don't mean that fuck Massey.

I thought it was Des Noonan who was killed ?

That's the jist of what was said but it was said after a load of whiskey but also said some of them were genuine back in the day but didn't quite run Manchester as has been made out in some docs.

This. They were businessmen who owned a lot of land in Salford and ran legitimate businesses such as Lloyd's metal..
I used to do a lot of building work for a couple of them, and they were actually decent fellas.

Don't get me wrong, he was a criminal and a so called gangster but none of the Noonans ran Manchester. The ones that did run it and no doubt still do, don't gob if about it. Whilst the Doddington, Gooch and other Black Manchester gangs ran around shooting each other, the Salford lads got on with being criminals. While the Noonans were doing documentaries the Salfird lads well you know what I am going to say.
