The women are actually ahead of what India were at (nearly) half way, but India had a big acceleration in the last few overs, so it still looks a tough ask, 201 of 26 overs.

Or just relegate them, farce of a pitch for a 4-day game. Thankfully Lancs won so Essex got fuck all for their incompetence.
It wasn't just the pitch though, I watched a lot of it, and there was some rank bad batting from both teams, and the bowling was excellent too.

When we batted yesterday evening under the floodlights, they should have gone off for bad light about 1/2 an hour before they did, I thought it was poor umpiring to be honest, eventually they were forced to bowl spin under the lights.

It was poor captaincy from Essex too there though. Bowling spin last night gave Lancs 20ish free runs.

Should there be County Cricket in the couple of weeks of September? Still another round to go yet !!!
Imho, what there shouldn't be is "made up" competitions taking up most of the summer, and pushing "real" cricket to the extreme ends of it.

I don't mind it still being played into late September personally, as the weather is generally better than in April.

Apparantly (according to the commentary team, I haven't checked) Essex had one that didn't last 4 sessions last year.
It lasted 126 over for 40 wickets. That can't be right surely? It was an incredible win by Lancy and goes to show its hard to entirely kill off a cricket game part of which is it's beauty.
But as a former batsmen myself for Prestwich 3rds and the Moseley Arms I love watching good batting but where is it nowadays?

Yes I agree with the fact that the “Cricket-lite” stuff pushes the real game out.
Personally would like to see the season end mid September.
The barrage of International T20s, the Hundred etc can go but they are the crowd pleasers.
Second rate one day Cup maybe ok to blood fri he players I suppose.

There is too much of cricket amongst the big 3 and not alot for the rest on international level which makes calendar Big 3 very hectic and gives the impression of too much cricket and rightly so
Yes it worries me that there is that much white ball cricket it's affecting the test game globally.
4 day tests in the future?
