The end of the Conservative Party?

They remind me of Labour before Starmer got a grip.
Plenty of factionalism and in fighting still going on, just the press are not interested anymore.

A competent tory leader who could make everyone forget the last 2 years of fuckwittery would massively cut labours lead, as was shown when kinnock was steaming ahead with time to spare for the CUP to snatch victory from him.

You'd need military grade, mind blowing pharmaceuticals to make people forget the 2 years of fuckwittery.
Or 3 months of lies splattered all over the Mail, Sun and Express. - And on the side of a few buses for the even more stupid.

Never underestimate the electorates ability to forget and believe the bullshit peddled.

All they need is a good year and a half of not public fighting some populist moves (probably nicked off labour, lib dems etc) and in best case senario a war/conflict to get involved in to stir up some good old fashion conservative momentum

They'll certainly need the next two state pension rises to be in line with inflation, and real control over fuel and food prices.

The hardest part for the Conservatives now is that people are having to pay for things. No more furlough, heating bills going through the roof, and inflation making everything enormously expensive. It’s not just the last two years that people won’t forget, it’s the next two as well.

Much as I detest the recent/current government part of me still wants them to be a viable electoral force in 2 years time simply because that means somehow we will have miraculously escaped the shitstorm that continues to gather pace. Sadly though I don't think that's going to happen and it'll be cold comfort seeing them obliterated when so many lives will have been blighted in the meantime.

Nah, have you not noticed how under tory rule, drugs are freely available on street corners, expecially now they have removed law and order. It's like Zombieworld in my area, more concerned with Corrie and Strictly.

I can understand that sentiment but two years is a long time in politics, and there are millions of people in England who will continue to vote Conservative regardless; them being ‘obliterated’ is but a fancy of these extraordinary times I imagine. There are quite a few on here that deep down would actually prefer them not to be obliterated, as that would make a coalition government more likely, which in turn could lead to electoral reform and perhaps even the preservation of the Union.

That's the way I feel personally. I think a strong opposition is a positive, regardless of which party is in opposition.

2 years ? and the rest

That is one absolute guarantee - pensions will rise & most pensioners will vote Tory.

wtf is it with Rees-Smug? Hand writes a letter rather than have it typed ( does he think that makes him look clever or something) the punctuation is dreadful btw - and dates it St Crispins day 2022? He is unhinged.

There’s been a few battles on that date. (Well, Agincourt and Balaclava featuring the charge of the light brigade). Perhaps he was being cryptic? More likely he was being a Cnut though………

So you break the ministerial code, and (a first in itself for the Tories?) resign, then get your job back after a suitable period of rehabilitation. A week...

That’s a fake, apparently. See here for the genuine version.

This pensioner won't be voting Tory, and while others often do they'll be a bit dischuffed if he doesn't do something about fuel prices. Most pensioners, if we are allowed to generalise, spend a lot of time at home with the heating on.
