Off those 12 teams that have qualified, 11 are from the 6 top nations in Europe.

There are 5 chamions. 3 runners-up, 2 third placed teams, and Benfica who were in a two legged play-off to qualify for the league stages.

The exception is Brugge (Belgium Champions) from the 12th best nation.

The 11 from the top leagues will increase to 13 when Group D gets decided.

So a guaranteed 13 out of 16 from the top six leagues, if Milan from group E and Leipzig from group F qualify then it will be 15 teams from the top 6 leagues.

The "competition" is just a money making racket.
It's almost as if the best teams in Europe are making the final stages.
Who needs a Superleague?
Oh yes - the teams who aren't good enough

You've lost me there - that is what you would expect surely?

If it were the opposite people would complain of an easy route to the final/no real challenges etc.

The group stage has been abit tedious and could do with some restructuring but I'm looking forward to the knockout stages.

Got a feeling we are going to be off to Milan for the next round, have we ever played Inter ?

What is the point of all the preliminary rounds?
Couldn't you say the same of any cup competition, should non league teams be denied a chance to play in the FA cup because by the time we get to the quarter finals it will be nearly all premier league teams?

My point exactly, all the qualifying is a complete waste of time. Straight KO competition between the top 64 teams on co-efficient or even more revolutionary a straight KO competition involving all the League Champions.

That though is a straight KO competition where you can draw anybody, not the farcical CL where all sort of criteria applies to the draw.

This gives teams and their fans guaranteed games against elite european teams though, which for fans from smaller footballing countries is great and for those teams and players good too. Gives our fans trips to see teams other thanthe same old too. Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I agree with you on the foreign trips, that is the best part of the CL for me.

I have been to a few Polish cities and found Warsaw the most unfriendly. Might be different at the moment with what is going on over the border.
Bollocks my friend, I live hear, would be a great place for a game, one trouble is the stadium capacity, which is around 31.000. Current situation affects its only in a way, that many Ukrainians are actually currently hear, so Shakhtar would have a good support

All football is a money making racket. The Premier League was founded as a breakaway from the old football pyramid precisely as a vehicle for making more money, so why don't you have an issue with that?

The Champions League is fine in its current format, the alternative is a Super League which all fanbases oppose for obvious reasons. So it's called the "Champions" league, genuinely who gives a fuck? It's just a name. The reality is it's the European Cup. It's the biggest club competition in the world, and it's the only way we ever have a chance of meeting the likes of Madrid, Bayern, Juve, etc. Club football without any European matches would be shite. It would be like someone handing you a travel brochure with lots of exotic destinations then slamming it shut in your face and telling you that you can never go there. It's the competition all the top players strive to play in. Do you reckon Haaland will stick around if we're yet to win one in a few years, whilst the likes of Madrid pick up yet another? One of his personal goals will be the Balon d'Or, and he isn't winning that without a CL winners medal.

This competition is denigrated by a small section of City fans as a defence mechanism, we've never won it so it comforts them to imagine it as unimportant. This same set of fans will then blow smoke up the arse of the League Cup, a competition where we'll likely meet cannon fodder up until the final round and then potentially play one tough game; all completed by mid-season: for a club of our current standing that is the definition of tinpot.

We need to win this trophy. Pretty much all of our competitors have at least one and we've had a team good enough to win it for over half a decade now. This teams legacy will be incomplete without it. No more excuses.

I spent some time in Lublin and absolutely loved the place, you couldn't wish to meet more friendlier people and it was as 'cheap as chips' !!
