Terrorist attack on asylum centre

I assumed it was something beginning with B related.

France don’t need to control their migration now we aren’t in some sort of Union in Europe.
Well we’re paying them extra to do something about it but they’re obviously not.

It’s another thing in a long line of wall that the government pisses our taxes up.

Perhaps if there were more legal/safe ways for people to claim asylum then there would be fewer illegal channel crossings?
Have you read any of the thread?

I’ve literally said that in the last few pages.

You’re welcome to think that but it isn’t.

I’ve been sat at home watching Sky Sports most of today whilst the weather has been shit, the Championship coverage, advertising and talking points have nearly vanished.

SSN showed a few controversial decisions from the football league but that was it.

The WSL had highlights from most games and punditry.

The Championship is one of the best leagues in the world and the WSL just isn’t, regardless of the genders that are playing.

The football league has needed more coverage for years, and now it has less.
As I said, it’s not really relevant to this topic, but I think you’re conflating two separate things there. Women’s football is not the reason that the Championship isn’t getting the coverage it perhaps deserves. Happy to carry on the conversation via PM though to prevent derailing the thread further.

You can. But if you own a newspaper and have to moderate the comments section, then it's not worth your time.
If I owned a newspaper I wouldn’t have comments sections.

It’s not worth it for the amount of cunts who now have access to the internet.

No I am happy to leave it there, it’s not as important, obviously, as the main topic of this thread.

I will just end by saying I’m not sexist.

The reason I ask is because it's common for outlets to post figures about a particular type of channel crossing in isolation, creating an impression that the increase is far greater than it is. From what I've heard, there was a huge crackdown on certain types of crossing and increases in security around cargo lorries, pushing people towards using these boats instead.

But according to this, there has been an overall increase too...

First one is applications.

Second one is successful applications.

But yeah, the increase from hundreds to tens of thousands is just in one particular method of channel crossing by the looks of things.
The crossings via boat are a bigger and more immediate issue in my opinion, due to the obvious risk of drowning.

The problem we’ve got is the criminal enterprises that are making the cash out of this are getting greedier and greedier and it’s growing.

It’s not going to stop unless the government radically change tactics.

and does what? Have you spotted a loophole they haven't?

Stop giving the French money and introduce proper infrastructure in Calais for people to be processed.

Make it easier for people to apply for asylum at the UK border.

Treat everyone who ignores that and crosses outside of process as someone to be deported and do such thing.

We’re no longer part of the Dublin Treaty, so we pay for France to do some monitoring, but they don’t have much incentive to give 100% to.

Here is a huge clue - Jan 2020 we left the Dublin 3 agreement - look it up - you will see why
I know what that is but do you think that’s why more are choosing to come here?

If that was so they’d surely not want to now the Rwanda policy was introduced?

Many of the People crossing the Channel know damn well they have no reasonable claim to Asylum and have no intention of going through Legal Channels. What is needed is a speedy system for removing such people from the UK (given they are coming anyway) to disincentivise such trips but how do you achieve this in practice?
We have some uninhabited islands off the British coast. Perhaps one of those could be used as a processing centre. Just throw up a few bothies for the refugees/asylum seekers, and let's see what they make of the wet and wild condirions.
If they are prepared to endure those conditions for a while, without complaint, then they must be genuine refugees.

Sorry but Calais is in France - France as a sovereign nation has control over its borders - we cannot introduce any infrastructure there.

The answer is simple

1/ like any other country allow access to the UK so they can make an asylum claim
2/ like a grown up country fund and staff the asylum claims so that people are not in overcrowded places intended for a 48 hrs stay maximum for a month or more instead
3/ when you show yourself to be a grown up responsible country use that as a starting point to negotiate repatriation agreements for the few that seem to fail in their asylum claim

Its not really that hard - but as long as we are governed by an amateurish group of clownish truth twisters who's sole way of hanging on to power is to stoke up a racists xenophobic or scared base that they are very good at doing the current rinse and repeat will continue because it suits their methodology.

ever stopped to think why they are uninhabited?

Televise it and call it I’m an asylum seeker, let me in here?

Perhaps they need to do challenges so they can feed themselves too?

The people coming here are better informed than the race hating rabble throwing petrol bombs who just get their news from the Mail. As of Jan 2020 they were well aware once they get here we cannot send them back to France ( our choice that was ) - they also know that Rwanda expect to take 200 a year for their £150m................100k coming here and 200 deported - they are odds they will take.

You see you fall for the BIG IDEA of Rwanda because you are told its a bold move by the Govt and the press. People outside - including asylum seekers can see what a hollow threat that is - thats why the Govt moves on a ramps up the rhetoric every day - you cannot be allowed to absorb and process the truth or you may ask awkward questions.

This issue was raised regularly since the referendum - it was always denied it was always part of Project Fear - its odd how every warning raised has turned out to be a truth eh? Its almost like some people could understand the facts.
