Ref Watch

Probably not saying something that hasn't been said, but that was one of the worst performances I've seen in a while

How Tete was allowed to make 7 or 8 fouls before being booked was ridiculous

He actually got the red card and penalties right, but the all round performance was shocking

Got to have been one of the worst performances from a ref for some time, they kicked the shit out of us the whole game.

Seriously, fuck Darren England.

He was already pretty blind in the VAR room even with screens right in front of him. How this guy managed to get a gig refereeing PL matches, I'll never know.

Genuinely felt like him and his VAR buddies were hell-bent on taking points off us today... until he gave the final pen. So now idk, maybe they are just dogshite.

Absolutely piss poor performance by the officials, all game.

Their penalty was one of those commentators sometimes describe as great defending,if the player played for utd or liverpool, that is.
A penalty against for everyone else, probably rightly.

Ours was as soft as they come.

The reffing seems to be going downhill so fast it's ruining the game alongside the misuse of var.

Both penalties were stonewall, crazy that anyone could even think otherwise to be honest.

For those who dont know the rules

A direct free kick is awarded if a player commits any of the following offences against an opponent in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force:
  • charges
  • jumps at

  • tackles or challenges
  • trips or attempts to trip
If an offence involves contact it is penalised by a direct free kick or penalty kick.

  • Reckless is when a player acts with disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, an opponent and must be cautioned
  • Using excessive force is when a player exceeds the necessary use of force and endangers the safety of an opponent and must be sent off
A direct free kick is awarded if a player commits any of the following offences:
  • a handball offence (except for the goalkeeper within their penalty area)
  • holds an opponent
  • impedes an opponent with contact
