I just think in general people not in the south stand also need to make some noise to improve the atmosphere. Just sing along to whatever you can hear and jobs a goodun reallyNot me or the people near me. Love being near the pitch

Could be another area where our success is our downfall. The flags always worked back in the day when we didn't get many tourists visiting. Was wondering that.
I have a few flags I keep meaning to hang over the top of the Colin Bell but didnt realise need to ask for permission first

At the home game vs Liverpool last year, I caught a pair of Portuguese half and half's trying to hang up a bright red FC Braga flag over the edge of CB2.
Told them "absolutely fucking not", and they got the message when the stewards came over. But you just know we'd be having to put up with bullshit like that wouldn't we
The key point here is that we normally have the SS3 and don't make as much noise as Chelsea did, though, so it can't just be acoustics.Yesterday was a perfect example of how people who say acoustics don't matter, have no idea what they're talking about.
I absolutely believe we have a lounder fan base than Chelsea, given we always outsing them at Wembley.
Yesterday however, the sound Chelsea made in SS3 completely engulfed the stadium, and the sound we made in SS1 could barely be heard.
I'm sure if you were in SS1 the atmosphere sounded amazing, as they were singing constantly, however the Chelsea lot were far louder and that's purely because of acoustics.
Just carry on as normal mate, there was unfamiliars sat down around us last night we just carry on as normal. We're here every game, they're not. If they don't like it we tell them where to stick it.I don't get annoyed by "tourists" normally. But last night there was someone in my seat who initially tried to claim I was wrong, was asked to sit down by a woman behind me despite being in safe standing and standing every game, was filmed when trying to join in a song, and a woman in front of me kept looking at me every time I made a noise and moved further away in the second half because she didn't like the noise. Was pretty weird all round. I really like and welcome new fans, but it's an odd experience when you are the content as much as the football game.
It's all good, plenty of them got involved on the easier "come on City" chants, and anyone is welcome. I'd prefer weird looks than an empty seat. Was just a bit of a surreal experience!Just carry on as normal mate, there was unfamiliars sat down around us last night we just carry on as normal. We're here every game, they're not. I know what you mean mate, its just I'm not for being told what to do when I've been coming for 23 years and most of the tourist would never have acknowledged us pre 2008. We used rip the rags to bits over the prawn sandwich brigade. That's just my take on itIt's all good, plenty of them got involved on the easier "come on City" chants, and anyone is welcome. Completely agree, never said acoustics is the only problem, but it's one of many problems. My main issue is that for the amount we sing throughout the game, the stadium could be so much louder than it actually isThe key point here is that we normally have the SS3 and don't make as much noise as Chelsea did, though, so it can't just be acoustics.
And this is the real crux of the issue. Not me or the people near me. Love being near the pitch

Was pretty weird all round. I really like and welcome new fans, but it's an odd experience when you are the content as much as the football game.

Absolutely mate, just get behind the team instead of talking shit about work or what you had for tea (this happens regularly near me and gets on my tits)Acoustics do matter to us, but they shouldn't.
Because we only have a few hundred singers (maybe a few thousand at a push), we need everything to give us more of an edge (which is why acoustics are important for us).
However, if you put 3k Poznan fans in the away end, the acoustics wouldn't matter one bit because ALL of them would sing and participate.
Acoustics can help, but the biggest driver of atmosphere is people. We need more people to buy into what we're doing and sing/shout/boo/swear/clap/scream/whistle/cheer.
What did they have for their tea?Absolutely mate, just get behind the team instead of talking shit about work or what you had for tea (this happens regularly near me and gets on my tits)
seconded, looking for inspiration. What did they have for their tea?
Agree with you that more people need to participate, but the acoustics are so bad that if you're sat in 117 it's not very easy to hear what's going on in 114/115However, if you put 3k Poznan fans in the away end, the acoustics wouldn't matter one bit because ALL of them would sing and participate.
Good on you for trying hahaunfortunately you still looked at funny when trying to sing in the CB level 3 haha

The difference with Poznan is that they have some knobhead at the front with a megaphone telling everyone what to sing.
We have 114 singing follow follow, 116 singing blue moon, Kippax corner also singing follow follow but not in time with 114.
If the acoustics were better we might get a whole stand singing one song, a little bit like Chelsea did yesterday
