You really don’t rate him. He’s proven over the years how good a full back he can be

In the same way Zinchenko and Delph did.

He plays LB because he’s not even close to Walker at RB.

And Pep spent all summer chasing a £60m left back because he didn’t want to play Cancelo at LB.

There’s been a few spells where his attacking output has been incredible and made all the other problems worthwhile.

But they’re few and far between and he’s a MOTD highlights player 90% if the time with at least one massive rick in him per game.

It’s not a coincidence we got to the CL final when he was benched for bad form (after being hooked at half time in the quarterfinal for doing his best to cost us the game)

There’s just the one catastrophic flaw in this.


Cancelo is worse at RB than LB.

But he is a million times better than Stones at RB. The make up of the defence is all over the show, it’s square pegs in round holes and has been for far too long. We get away with it most weeks because we are so far ahead of the opposition.

The Gomez being better or worse talk shouldn’t even be a thing at this moment because they should both be playing. Cancelo at RB and Gomez at LB and fuck this CB at RB nonsense off once and for all.

We sold Zin (a player Pep trusted) at a time when we all said we needed another LB. We have “replaced” him with a guy that Pep clearly doesn’t trust. We were in the shit at LB before we sold Zin. Now it’s a fucking catastrophe, because we are now fucked at RB as well. Fucking braindead transfer moves.

We need fullbacks holding the width, this current group of wingers is way better playing inside the half spaces.

Or at the very atleast get pacy wingers out wide frkm the academy.

His big problem is that he over plays when he really doesn't need to. Attempts this outside of the right foot pass too many times when he should be simplifying his game. He seems to be a bit of a show pony to me.

He is a defender who cannot defend and is a liability, he needs dropping its that simple, and Stones at right back is equally a joke. Its quite a worry that Pep can't see it. A very long 6 weeks in store.

The club tried to buy a lb but bulked at the fee.
Sometimes transfers like Gomez work and sometimes they don’t. We have weakness’s right up and down both flanks. No pace on either side is killing the creativity in the team.

Holding the ball and constantly recycling it to end up not making killer passes has become redundant. Time the boss modified our approach. Look like what we are, slow and out of ideas.

We need a proper natural left back, I doubt it will happen in this January window but opponents know Cancelo can be got at.

He stank the place out today and has done for a few weeks , he is becoming a luxury player , he is lucky Zinchenko left the club because he would be starting every game at the moment , modern full backs like Cancelo and Trent Darby are fine when you are dominating games but when it comes down to blood and nettles defending they are not good enough.
Cancelo needs reminding he is a defender first and foremost and the attacking part of his game is a bonus , he needs to get back to basics , and ditch that number seven shirt , all the praise is going to his head.

Cancelo is the streakiest player I’ve ever seen.

When he’s playing well he plays well for a few months on the run and is the best full back anywhere in the world.

When he’s not playing well he plays poorly for a few months on the run and looks utterly average.

He’s consistent, I’ll give him that. It’s not like he’s good one week then shit the next… he’s world class, world class, world class, world class, world class, world class, world class, average, shit, shit, average, average, shit, shit…

Was in a great form a month ago (Southampton), but lost form and many can't wait to put boot in him. It's not his fault that Pep doesn't/can't rotate him because other defenders are injured or unavailable. Started every game before Sevilla, hasn't been fresh enough recently.

He's a type of player who is likely to be better appreciated at Real or Barcelona. There are rumours Real are after him. Sounds logical, they lack a quality RB, and Mendy at LB isn't the best either. A summer move may be on the cards. Won't be a big loss for some fans. Would be a big loss for the team. He's been important for our last 2 titles, especially for the last one, as he started 36 PL games and was the best fullback in the league.
