How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Yes, as per the post above from @blueish swede

The people I was speaking to are also lawyers whose expertise lies in European migration law, so for them it was to be a bittersweet trip.
I’ve just checked with the wife (she’s German).
She always uses a passport to get into the UK because she doesn’t have an ID card. That’s where I got confused. But yeah, it seems an ID was enough

Did you actually need to show a passport for immigration clearance or was that just the photo ID you used to board your flight?

Got the ferry to Dun Laoghaire * a few years ago and didn’t need to show passports either way

I edited the original Chris.
Ryanair, which I would take to Standsted, required a passport.

We didn’t have ID cards so would always bring it going to Manchester too.

I have a vague recollection of flying into Southend Airport on an Aer Lingus owned airline once without a passport. I think I only had a drivers licence and hadn’t a problem.

BTW did I get Dun Laoghaire right?

only asking because you got Stansted wrong

:)

I am so glad that Eton can screw anyone who went to a comprehensive due to leaving the EU. Also, I am so glad I will be met with occasional suspicion if I go outside of England. I would like to thank Cummins, Piglet the liar, Gove etc for enhancing our lives.

I was thinking about this earler, rejoining the EU, not neighbours :) but it will take at least a decade don't you think? Doesn't seem to be on the political agenda (as yet) for the next parliament, never mind this one.
True. You’ll hear neither Labour nor the Conservatives mention Brexit in the House, certainly not in any critical way, so it’s left to the SNP, Liberal Democrat’s, and Greens (e.g. Caroline Lucas yesterday) to point out the bleeding obvious. Unless there is a hung Parliament, the entire subject will be off the table for its duration, so that means until 2030, by which time 14 years will have lapsed since ‘democracy’ had its say.
