I don't think he understands the concept of being a "9" yet. He seems more concerned with racking up appearances rather than goals. For a 9, his record at Bilbao is abysmal.

Would still be nice if he could do the basics at times when defending. He’s had a fullback for 5 years on the other side who’s just a pure defender. Apart from the few games he had early season when Pep tried him getting on the ball like Beckham under Sven. That looked good:)

Leao should be starting every match for Portugal.

Fernando Santos needs to stop starting with that bizarre 433 tactic with Ratboy playing on the right wing. Played that same shite in the Euros and it was absolutely dire.

A few thoughts after the first game:

• We are not going to go far with this coach and his insane formation. Palhinha and Leao need to start ahead of Neves and Ronaldo respectively.
• Ronaldo has done nothing to show why any club needs to hire him. Instead of going wide, he selfishly kept running into Felix when Felix correctly took up central positions in front of goal. Didn't look like a threat at all. Messed up a few passes. Won a dubious penalty but to be fair a legit goal seems to have been chalked off in the first half.
• Players were slow in transition from defense to attack.
• In the defensive phase, defenders were being dragged wide leaving vast open spaces to be covered by Neves/Silva/Bruno. We will be destroyed by any competent attack.

On a side note, I saved a moment of history. CR7 scored in 5 World Cups.

I don't think you meant that it is good that Cancelo can't defend for either City or Portugal , but prefer to think that you find it concerning that he shows familiar traits when having to defend ?

I do not like the defensive flaws which are seen quite regularly, but when he doesn't have defensive responsibilities and can simply concentrate on attacking, then he is a different player altogether.

Needs to stop the diving and petulance too imo.
