Argentina probably can't believe their luck after losing the first game against Saudi Arabia. They have looked miles better in the last 2 games though, the introductions of players like Alexis Mac Allister and Julian Alvarez have made a huge difference. There is less reliance on Messi to do absolutely everything.

Australia have had 2 impressive performances to drag themselves to the last 16, they opened the scoring against France and beat Denmark, so they'll fancy their chances. They are up against it here though. Harry Souttar will probably have to throw himself in front of everything again.

Australia have done very well to get this far but like the USA, the big boy stages are unforgiving
I would say Australia are probably about the weakest team left in the tournament. Should be a fairly routine win for Argentina (though I thought the same when they played Saudi).

You would have to imagine Argentina get through this comfortably but then they were supposed to blow Saudi Arabia away

still, I don’t see a big upset tonight

Well the BBC only need Messi playing cos that's all they have talked about. Oh hang on they just mentioned Alvarez !!!!

There's thousands of fans going crazy. Police have closed it off.
Imagine if Australia score first. Eek!

Hope Australia win so we get Alavrez back safe and sound and fresh for the recommencement of proper football

I just can't see the Aussies getting anything here. You're in the business end of the tournament now, and shocks akin to the ones Saudis and Japan managed will be thin on the ground from now on.

Stranger things have happened Jim but I’d have to agree with you. If Argentina don’t win, I’d be beyond shocked
