Who did we actually beat..?

On the other hand, France have beaten Australia, Denmark, Poland and England, and have a semi-final with Morocco. They lost their final group game to Tunisia. Croatia beat Canada, drew with Belgium and Morocco, and needed penalties to beat Japan and Brazil. Argentina beat Mexico, Poland and Australia, lost to Saudi Arabia, and needed penalties to beat the Netherlands, after blowing a 2-goal lead. Morocco beat Belgium, Canada and Portugal, and beat Spain on penalties (and drew with Croatia). So basically, out of all the semi-finalists, only Morocco managed to beat a 'good' team without a penalty shootout. Belgium look like a team in decline, so I don't think Morocco beating them is terribly surprising. If you think England are a good team, then add France to that list. So in short, getting to the semi-finals isn't done by beating the good teams - it's beating what's in front of you.

They did but that euro tournament was basically on hone soil apart from beating Ukraine in rome . All the other nations travelled all over Europe apart from England so it wasn’t really the achievement a lot thought if was . If you were asked before all the last 3 tournaments about the opposition England would face you would bite there hand off .

After he scored the first, Southgate should have insisted his second nominated, planned, penalty taker took it. Captain Kane himself is unlikely to have voluntarily given up the chance to take it, but Southgate should have overruled, and he didn’t.

And if we missed Wed only be going mental asking why Kane never took it . You wouldn’t change your specialist free kick taker after he’d scored so no reason to change a penalty taker.. seems HK is just destined never to pick up any decent silverware.
 
Argentina could end up getting to a World Cup final having played Saudi Arabia (of whom beat them), Mexico, Poland, Australia, Netherlands and Croatia.

They could face Morocco in the final as well.

Croatia have got to a semi-final having only won one game all tournament and that was against Canada.

Just to put into perspective what Argentina and Croatia will have on their 2022 World Cup CV if they do go on and win it.

Imagine a CL final and Haaland scored a penalty but then gets another later on in the game.

Are we all screaming for someone else to take it? no chance.

Yeah it’s ridiculous

someone else steps up and misses, imagine how much shit Pep would get for the decision or Haaland for not stepping up and taking the second one too.

It’s football, plenty of good players miss penalties. Haaland will probably miss one for us at some point, just hopefully not 6 minutes from the end of a game that sends us out of a competition.

your best penalty take should always take them, but when you have already taken one and scored, NEVER pick the option to hit it high if you get another in the game, low and hard any corner, then if the keeper save's it you say ok good save

And let's not forget prior to the world cup england were relegated from the nations league a after losing 3 and drawing 2 southgate has to go before he ruins a golden generation
