FWIW. It's not just about how far we go in tournaments, it's about the football we play. Our midfield is currently all the same and workmanlike at best. We have creative players that can play there too. Harry Kane dropping and linking, is not the answer. We then become light up top. There is absolutely no fluency whatsoever. All we do know is that our midfield certainly know where our defenders are. It's all too safe and where does that get us.

Was only making the point that tournament football you lose because of so many factors, I thought Lloris saves and all round game was one of those factors. Wasn’t expecting such a back lash - but clearly over in France they thought he was one of their best players on the night

Except he didn't have much of a CV.

International mangers have a limited field of players to select from and can't buy the ideal players for their system.

So it doesn't matter much if he has a philosophy, if there aren't the players to implement it. They have never been embarrassed and gave everything they could.

And despite Peps talents he still hasn't managed to integrate either Foden or Grealish into centre midfield positions. Something Southgate gets flack for.

We disagree again when considering a CV.

Pep had spent his life at Barca & was known for his incredible intelligence & had learnt from Cruyff. The Barca philosophy was important to the people hiring, Pep had been impressing with his coaching at Barca B so you see his CV was actually perfect for the role. The people hiring didn’t want a big name who had won trophy’s or they’d have gone for Jose. What they wanted was exactly what was on the CV & by trusting the process the results & trophy’s will follow.

You could argue a similar hiring process for Southgate, someone engrained in the FA development of players coming through to trust the youth. The players brought up on incredible technical ability that had won the u17 World Cup. England was suddenly full of players who could maintain possession & outplay the worlds best. Look at the players developed by City, Chelsea & Arsenal who already play for progressive coaches & what do we get.

He’s fucking clueless. I never care about getting beat or going out but at no point did I trust him to get us over the line. At no point did I believe we had France on the ropes or had control of the game. If we’d have scored the pen we were conceding again.

The reason I’m pissed off is for the first time in my life the depth of ability in England is incredible. It’s being wasted & not by bad luck having had 65% possession & 25 shots like we see at City but bland meaningless dire shite served up.
