Ian Bishop & Trevor Morley on their "rumoured relationship"

It's a bit bloody sad that this crap really got to Morley, maybe Bish coped with it a bit better. But it probably cost him a chance of maybe getting on the edges of the England squad.

English football isn't homophobic but no top flight player has come out since Justin Fashanu in the late eighties??? Wonder why not with our fucking scum media.

Got a lot to learn on that score from the WSL, their players and the entire mentality, I suspect.

As for the player who went on to manage City, Peter Reid springs to mind, I don't know either way.

We've all sniggered at these rumours, knocking around for 30 odd years, horrible the pain such snide shit causes.

This is an excellent post mate.

I remember hearing the rumours when I was at school.
Most have been hard on both of them but appears to have taken its toll on poor Trevor who it’s often forgotten was stabbed and nearly died. So not only did he as the victim have that to come to terms with also through no fault of his own is mercilessy hammered for the remainder of his career in England by not only fans but his fellow professionals.

I wish them both nothing but happiness and success for the rest of their lives.

It was always absolute horse shit
Same as the internet posts about two Chelsea players that went viral a few weeks ago
And rumours about a reality pop star and a united cb a few years back
Thankfully we live in times where if a player was brave enough to come out we’d mostly shrug out shoulders
He’d still be booed at Burnley and Stoke though

Possible but Reid would have been playing at City against WHU

Also, Bishop said that the player in question had "ended up" managing City, which implies he wasn't and hadn't been our manager at the time he delivered the abusive comments. Morley was stabbed by his wife in March 1991, when Reid was already City manager, which doesn't on the face of it seem to fit with what Bish said.

Had the misfortune to have that twat Bishop sat behind me on a plane journey from Heathrow to Manchester after returning from the USA.

Pissed as a fart, rude, ignorant.
Which one?

Add Steve Coppell to that list
