I'm very much in favour of this design if only for aesthetic reasons. The wraparound cladding offers a far more attractive, sinuous look which would help to detract from what some see as the brutalist multistorey car park appearance of the current stadium.Looks great. Would be very happy with something like this.View attachment 64787View attachment 64788
Agreed, apparently this is unfeasible though.I'm very much in favour of this design if only for aesthetic reasons. Hmmm...I did wonder. Sorry, I missed that post. Why is it unfeasible? Structural engineering reasons or prohibitive cost.Agreed, apparently this is unfeasible though.

The design is very much dated and nothing like what we ultimate went with. Looking at the South Stand, it’s somehow using the old roof supports rather than the newer triangle structures which ultimately went up to provide independent support.
The sides are also using the spirals and masts for a new roof support. Not sure how we’d get rid of the old roof and then throw an even higher roof up using the same supports without the stand being totally uncovered for a season.
This ‘plan’ is very much a design for looks rather than anything logical it would seem, although it’s interesting to see how the outside of the stadium could evolve in future.
That is (apparently) a design put forward for the Olympic 2000 bid. They used part of the design for the 2002 Commonwealth games.Hmmm...I did wonder. Sorry, I missed that post. Why is it unfeasible? Structural engineering reasons or prohibitive cost.
When? The 3rd of jan or 31st of jan?
Yes but only the concept of the roof and spirals The City of Manchester stadium was designed as a football stadium from the outset with a clever use of the geophysical nature of the area in that the games track was at ground lever with the football pitch seven meters lower this also meant a temporary north standThat is (apparently) a design put forward for the Olympic 2000 bid. Populous.
Note the greeness, landscaping and trees that will surround the proposed new AC Milan and Inter Milan shared stadium.
Compare that to the Etihad stadium, surrounded by……

Let’s hope Populous bring some greenery, trees and landscaping to the area at back of the North stand expansion including City Square, the hotel, etc.

I’m sure it will be done in Milan.
Just like it has been at Mayfield.

Hopefully the proposals will include new planting and landscaping?
