Obviously he wasn’t great today, but I’m not sure I agree with the way he’s being managed at the moment. Similar with our other wingers.

The foden that’s one of our best players takes people on and creates chances. As soon as he gets the ball now it’s all about recycling possession, passing it back or staying really far out wide.

I want to see him in midfield and starting every game - not playing regularly is effecting him imo. All city fans know how good he is.

The tactics didn’t quite help anybody - potentially a redeeming factor. But that was poor. I don’t say that much with Phil. Whether he’s been playing like that in training hence not starting, or the lack of starts has affected his confidence we won’t know. But he can’t complain it back on the bench for the derby.

The whole team as an attack was wank for most of that game, certainly in the first half. He was no worse than anyone else. Guardiola made a pigs ear of the first 45 minutes.

Looked completely out of sorts. Hopefully he’s just a little rusty. People will point to him passing backwards and yes it’s fucking frustrating but what worried me more was his touch (lack of) in the 1st half.

Worst game I've seen him have since Olympiakos a year or two ago. He's had a couple where he's been completely ineffective but he was truly awful for that entire first half.

Phil is not in great form at the moment but that will not last. One thing that stands out though is he needs to get back to having the hunger when things are not going so great personally. In all the games we've seen I can count on one hand (one with two fingers removed) the times he has lost possession and not busted a gut to get it back. It is quite interesting that a lot of the England players apart from John Stones & maybe Jack have come back from the WC is poor form. Don't know if it was all the emotional energy used up or being subject to Southgate's coaching ha!

I reckon that’s because he’s not starting. He needs a consistent run of games. It’s hard to judge his form when he’s not playing
