Problem has been our defence have been incapable of building up play over the halfway line, laporte is trying but he's got Phillips who isn't totally sure what to do yet infront of him, gomez who can't seem to find a blue shirt to his left and walker who keeps smashing 10 yard balls to everyone to his right.

No point bringing on Haaland when Julian alvarez has had 2 touches through no fault of his own. Get Gomez and Grealish off at halftime bring on akanji and kdb and play players in their actual fucking position. get right back Kyle walker at right back and cancelo left. Akanji partnering laporte then get foden on the left and kdb central can still turn it around.

Cancelo not driving forward as a result and not disrupting the oppo mid as Rodri does.

Too many short passes and silly unneeded flicks going on. Over confidence without putting the work in.

No control of the mid leaves no service to Alvarez, so no chances!

Needs shuffling and someone to control the mid for us.

Cancelo is just awful and has been for a while.

Does nothing defensively, hides from the ball, contributes nothing in the build up, doesn't help out his teammates under pressure.

He might as well not be on the pitch.
 
It set alarm bells ringing in my head when Pep said a few weeks ago there was a possibility of him leaving his contract early if he wasn't getting through to the players.

We've been here before with a poor run of performances but this particular run coupled with the comments made could be different. Sorry to be a bedwetting doom merchant, really hope he proves everyone wrong again.

We have 1 centre half,and 2 pretend fullbacks.It throws the shape of the team completely.

You build a team from the back,on solid foundations.....im fucking sick of this false fullback shite,and why when we have 4 world class centre haves available is only 1 on the pitch ?
 
Pep has brought more success to City than we could ever have dreamed, but he can't win with some of you lot.

Playing this side to prioritise the derby was the right decision and the people suggesting we bring on Haaland and KDB early are out of their fucking minds.

Nobody wants to go out in this game, but the Rags game is vastly, vastly more important and Pep was right to rest our best for it.
 
For once the gloom of the match day thread is appropriate. Passing was appalling and that's one thing we can normally rely on. With them pressing so much, surely we can beat it and counterattack. Seems like there's nothing presenting when we do occasionally get past their midfield. We just give it away.. And what's with unlikely worldy goals being scored bt players that have never done it this season?

I think you’re right. He will give it 20
Minutes and then just go for it with 4-5 big guns. Not worth the risk of anything else. The plus of saving 3 fixtures is a big one should we go out.
 
It’s called football and players play in there best positions so why does peo find it difficult not to stick to trued and tested formations . Last week against Chelsea he got it wrong and tonight with Walker at cb he has done it again . Wish I could say that we are saving our best players for the derby but we are not at the races this season and it’s showing but I’m now worried that pep will fuck about with the formation for the derby game and if will cost us . Cancelo is lost and I can’t see it getting any better and gomez is not even second team standard .

I guess Walker is filled in because Stones is not fit. And Pep wants to save Akanji for the weekend.

It’s been going on all season. Squad players not good enough to take the place off our starters who are also playing crap.

One thing that really worries me is that the way Pep set this up is not getting us up the opposition box and they keep the ball in our half
