Pep’s Spurs (H) Post-Match Interview

fans have the right to boo, just like they have a right to celebrate and clap and sing ? if you're not turning up like pep says the players are doing, then sorry, it's not the fans fault ? it's at Peps door lies the truth.

the whole world can see the problem, when players are asked to cover somebody else role in the team you get a problem because they are not uses to playing that role week after week or played that way, I love AKE for playing in that role or putting his hand up and saying I will do that, he wants to play so will do anything to play,

But it's not good for the team because the better teams will hurt you ? boy, do we get punished down the left ? both spurs goals were down to the left side and 3 or 4 more very good chance also,

what does it say about Gomez, who is a left wing back and was signed by pep for that role ? Or the young EDS lads that play on the left wing back, Pep got a very big problem with his Ego and will not say he is wrong about the left side of defence, we have had all summer and this winter transfer to fix it but nothing,
Gomez is not going to make it a city ,i think pg has made his mind up & he will be moved on in the summer.

We are turning into the Barcelona of the Premier league. Barca had loads of tourists and day trippers at their prime with Pep and Messi it's what happens when you have continued success for multiple seasons.

Booing will happen, you can say entitled but with continued success comes new fans who have only seen City dominate and win that's all they've seen for a decade trophies, top 4, champions league and league titles. When those standards are not being met boos will happen.

Especially now with two superstars in Alvarez and Haaland. I put Alvarez in the same category as Haaland as his social media and fan support is on level with Haaland.

You had a fan all the way from Argentina last night in a river plate shirt ask for Alvarez shorts and top.

Man city isn't just a football club now we are an attraction known to play attractive football and have superstars in the team.

The presser sort of stung... but like the way it feels good to bear down on a tooth that's hurting. He didn't come out and swoon like some managers might... he said what needed saying and the undertone wasn't "wow these lads really overcame today what a performance" but more like "meh, when we play like we should this is no surprise... if we keep letting our guard down like we did end of half... expect dropped points." He's spot on about the fans... a part of the presser that did not feel the least bit uncomfortable to me. A lot of spoiled, lazy happy clappers who think the club kicked it's first ball the day Sheik Mansour bought it. If what Pep said makes you feel singled out as a fan... there are other clubs who'll take your kit money and bandwagon fan presence. I could do with a cull myself.

Spot on mate, tell you somert though it’s a good job we not sat in pub now me and you chewing the fat,we would be called a right pair of moaning bastards, you at 48 me at 51,we are on the same page though that’s for sure, his comments have touched a nerve with you as they have me

Wound me up. He did it last season in the Champions League game?

I didn't hear much from Spurs fans last night, but Pep felt the need to use them to embarrass us for his own ends?

I am never complacent about winning. I want to win everything, every time.

We are too busy sending out joint emails with Liverpool lumping our fans in with theirs.

I would argue that booing and being noisier in support of the team are two completely different things, and the same logic applied actually highlights that.

And, FWIW, basically every behavioural study ever conducted has shown positive reinforcement is more effective than negative reinforcement.

I hope we don’t go the way of the rags and dippers and start booing the team every time we have bad spell or the team isn’t playing well in a match.

Otherwise some may actually get to see what happens when you do that.

Maybe so, but do you not see how huge a distraction it is?

He would have said what he was going to say with or without the booing, only the media will put those two together. Here we are talking behavioural psychology, ticket prices, legacy fans or tourists, atmospheres, entitlement and whatever else.

Like that is going to make the fucking difference between us not conceding a daft goal after giving away a needless pass, or being unable to score when chasing the game and the manager refusing to change anything.

Like I've mentioned before, put the first team squad back in class with the Buzzer, after years of being kicked all over the shop, he mastered the dark arts of defending himself, by slipping a sly stud in here and there.
It's obvious the main reason the refs have been told to be more lenient with the rougher tackles, it's simply to kick fook out of City, it's the only way to stop us. it's about time we give it back.

I don't think that was what Pep was saying, I think he wanted someone to get a Spurs player by the throat. I said leaving the game that with the sort of tackles that were being allowed a Kompany, de Jong etc would have thought brilliant, give me a 50:50 and they certainly wouldn't have let some of those tackles go by without getting in someone's face.

Pep spoke about lack of fire, the team (and fans) being too relaxed and that's what changed at half time. The formation didn't change, the team didn't change, they just put a bit of effort in, especially without the ball and suddenly we looked like the team who got 100 points. It was interesting just watching the full BBC interview, he names Lewis, Alvarez, Grealish for putting in the effort, in the media room he also named Ake, but he was also asked about Mahrez and said before the World Cup he was on holiday, no passion, now he's realised and is back in the side. Hopefully some of those watching the game from the bench have realised what is expected of them, and it's got nothing to do with what they did last season or the size of their contract.

sorry, but crowding the ref or getting in a player face will only benefit the other team ? that's the plan of many managers and clubs who turn up at the Etihad, Keep the fans quiet get them to lose their control and the ref will help in booking and giving them the advantage,

simple answer to that is Manchester city are not given anything became of the badge we wear ? our name is not powerful enough to being given that in games

I agree with you there. Which is why I wish there hadn’t any booing at all, as it was going to be picked up and shoved in our faces by the media even if Pep hadn’t made the comments he did.

True,I'll be proper calmed down by Sunday, then hopefully he will back track a bit,and offer some kind of apology, doubt it though

One the cheapest season tickets is one of the ways they’ve done it. Agree with match day tickets they are ridiculous prices! Need the new extension to have cheaper match day tickets for local fans but don’t know how they would around doing that..

Easy, do what Liverpool do. Discount the local postcodes. City won't do that. Soriano is a greedy pig and the new stand will have some token discounted season-ticket, as per.

Serie A eventually went the same way when it was at its zenith. Crazy ticket prices and half empty stadiums.

Gomez is not going to make it a city ,i think pg has made his mind up & he will be moved on in the summer.

then why not bring in somebody in the winter market ? Pep Ego about I will find the answer, sometimes is a leveller for others, playing a centre back at left back/wing back is not the answers

Pep construed the booing with entitlement, when it was down to performance.
He didn’t though.

I happen to think those booing are showing signs of entitlement (perhaps not yet entitled, per say), and the media are definitely spinning it that way (if we didn’t want them to do that we shouldn’t have booed).

But he didn’t say anything to that effect. In fact, he purposefully didn’t directly answer the question about booing. At least not the interview I saw.

Pep construed the booing with entitlement, when it was down to performance.
He construed it as such because any real supporter knows the performance was not lacking the first 43 minutes- we were not firing on all cylinders but for the most part had a fair handle on it until Eddie's clusterfuck pass resulting in a goal and the next breakdown in extra time. If some fans roundly boo "their club" whom they purportedly support for playing better overall for 96% of the first half than they have vs. lesser opponents of late... They're entitled, spoiled and have no idea WTF they're watching.

I think it probably had little to do with it. And even if it did play a part, that’s tactic that the rags and dippers have shown has a very quickly diminishing returns (in to negative territory).
could you suggest how we positively reinforce them putting in a bit of effort and not giving away two daft goals in the final minutes of the first half then? It's quite difficult for 50k people to do that in unison, much easier to say that was shit, don't do it again.

The negative part of booing or grumbling is if it happens at the start, from every misplaced pass or miscontrol. That's what puts pressure on players and they stop performing because they're just trying to avoid a mistake. If anyone is too delicate to accept someone telling them that, on that day, they're doing a shit job I'd suggest they're not cut out for that or any other job.

I for one shall remain stoically silent unless and until I get more lasers and smoke cannons.
We also need to see a return of it's a knockout style half time entertainment, how I miss the charm of four middle-aged fatties slipping around on their gazelles...

what about the half-time draw tickets ? i used to love waiting to hear that Mrs Swales had won again
