I don’t disagree with anything you have said there.

But can we both agree we don’t want to become the rags or dippers, booing the team every time they play poorly or going through a bad patch? Or throw our toys out of the pram if we happen not to when the league once every three or four seasons?

Of course not. And I don't see it being like that.

I chose to shout crap at the half-time whistle, I don't think anyone was co-ordinating a booing-fest, minimal at best, but enough for a member of the media (Sam Matterface) to give Pep an open goal.

I'm on the same page as Pep, we have people in the team selling him and us short, I just don't think he needs to throw the fans in to the mix, it just fuels the bogus narrative about City fans in general.

Eddie has been shit for most of this season and when he does something like last night, he's always gonna get it - certainly from me.

Isn’t his point more simple. We can raise the roof when we choose to and he just wants that more often.

I want us to play fast attacking exciting football, I want us to play with a settled back 4. I don’t want us to be boring and slow to watch. After being dumped out of the cup, losing a derby that first half performance wasn’t good enough for this manager and these players. The roof is raised dependent on the game or what’s happening on the pitch. If what’s happening on the pitch is slow and passive who’s going to be raising the roof there. Nobody, no teams fans does. It’s no coincidence the second half was miles better because guess what; the team played miles better. Isn’t a case of just singing when we are winning, getting the fans going and excited is enough to do it on its own. Very few home atmospheres are good.

Bit of an over reaction to a few boos. We were poor that first half again and then conceding two goals like that right at the end i think just caused frustration rather than people booing the team as such. Pep is more than in his right to dig out the fans if we aren't making much noise, but at the same time don't complain if the fans dig out the players for another lack luster performance.

Did he complain about the boos?

Edit, checked the video, he's not complaining about the booing. Sky raised the booing and Pep explained it but didn't complain about it. It was the crowd being too quiet he didn't enjoy.

I was there and don’t recall much booing at HT probably because the wall of noise from the PA system that boots up when the HT whistle goes. Maybe the comfy nice people he talked about are in the vast amount of posh expensive seats that proliferate the stadium, either way i couldn’t give two fucks, we were shit in the first half, if those who dragged their arses to the stadium on a freezing cold night when they could have stayed home and watch it on the box want to let of steam then that’s up to them. I thought the atmosphere was pretty good especially second half. The season has been weird and fucked up cos of the WC bang in the middle. Either way I’m looking forward to Wolves on Sunday. Come on City!

That's a very good point. City looked dead and buried near the bottom of the second division. I remember thinking at least we had a chance against the teams in that division. Then we got Stoke who were flying and my confidence in the team, like yesterday against Spurs was so low that I didn't think City had a chance. City turned the season around against Stoke, let's hope yesterday's game was a turning point. Well done City.

If you were mentally on holiday, like he says Mahrez was before the World Cup, you're getting it. And he sees the fans as part of the same team ethic, we have a job to do and last night, we weren't doing it, so we got it. Don't think that was related to the boos, I recall when he first arrived he said something like we were too nice and should boo poor performances, but an't find the quote as Google is now just full of last night. I think his comment about the fans was the effort we put in for the 45 minutes before the boos, not the boos themselves and it's down to us on Sunday to pull our fingers out as well.

He's never sent a side out to play like they did in the first half, and all he did at HT is give them an absolute rollicking.


Yesterday's match proved it's not about Pep or his tactics or his selections. It's about the players and their collective intensity.

Almost always it's about the players.

Pretty much any combination of 11 from our squad (in their rightful positions) should be good enough to beat most opponents if they play as well as they are capable of and follow Pep's gameplan. And the players should be capbale of adapting in-game if the gameplan is actually a bit off.

The biggest issue this season is a lack of spark (for want of a better word) and Pep chose last night to call it out because his team pulled their fingers out in the second half in a chips down situation and blew Spurs away, then managed the game out.

Pep chose his moment for that rant very deliberately. Now we will have to see if it works.

I've been in noisier cemeteries than some matches at Maine Rd. It was great for atmosphere on occasions but had plenty of quiet times too.

I’m not sure he was calling the crowd out he just wants us to play a bigger part in a much needed resurgence if we are to compete for the title this season
Think of last night as the Liverpool match of January 2019 which was the beginning of the fight back.
Clearly some fans are offended by his comments and I get that but let’s hope the reaction is worth it

Given the shit show of performances from the team, for a sustained period of time it’s harsh going in on the fans, awful in fact.

For me attending City is all about getting behind the team, you feel you are doing your 'bit' for the team, otherwise I would watch it from home, everyone wants a rocking atmosphere surely ?

I don't get it tbh, Pep's very passionate about football and he talks from the heart in that kind of interview, that's what I want from the players and manager at City. If he wants to criticise the fans collectively I don't see why anyone should take it personally. He had a point he wanted to make and did so, fair enough as far as I'm concerned.
