Pep stay for 5 more years or a CL trophy?

What would you prefer?

Even if we overlook United for league titles and Real Madrid for Champions Leagues, other sets of fans and the media would belittle it and say ‘they don’t count, you only won them because of oil money’.

But nobody else matters. Only anyone connected to City matter. The players, the management team and other staff, the boardroom, our owners and most importantly the fans are the only ones who matter.

What anyone else says is irrelevant.
Here, here.

The ultimate dream is as follows:
Charity Shield
League Cup
FA Cup
Premier League
Champions League
Super Cup

and undefeated whilst doing so.

That’s just not true in the slightest!

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve said myself this season that to join the smaller elite club of winning three English First Division league titles in a row is something I want more than our first Champions League trophy.

However, I really really want that Champions League trophy at some point soon as well and in any normal season (where it’s not the chance to do three Prems in a row), it’s:

Premier League….Champions League

FA Cup

EFL Cup

Community Shield.

And I do care about the Community Shield!
I really hope we win the Champions League with Pep but if I was offered a choice of PL or CL this season I would choose the league because like you say, only a very small number of clubs have won three league titles in a row.

In the history of English football, only four teams have done it: Huddersfield, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd. It would be a great achievement that would further cement this team's place in the history books and this may be the last chance we have at doing it under Pep. That's not to say I wouldn't love it if we won the Champions League instead, it's just my preference for this season.

I think we will have Pep for another couple of years and we've had him as a manager longer than any other team and he will want a break from football.

Dismiss the CL though.... we'll never win it with Pep managing. If we make another final, he'll overthink it and put Bernie in goal.

Would you rather be Villa and Forest, then?

Tongue in cheek mate. We will still compete without Pep. We are unlikely to be as dominant but if we continue to have the board we do, we should still be successful. We have a strong academy business model, excellent facilities and will buy great players. Most of the young crop will only know City as a successful team and will want to join.

We aren't likely to plummit down the leagues, but we have dominated England. Time to conquer Europe.

Brilliant post.

En efecto.

Ese trofeo es más antiguo que la Copa EFL, de una época en la que no existían los turistas de plástico.

Why is Pep's Barcelona the greatest team of all time? I agree, they are. But what's the reason?
In Spain there is no debate. even the people of real madrid recognize it. Pep's Barça won all the titles in the first year. and all with goal records and with 4 or 5 goals per game. look at youtube videos it was magical. 2009-2013.

It's annoying how much I want the league. It would be lovely to not care, but I don't want Liverpool or the rags to win it so have cared almost because of that more than for any other reason. Then this season, I wouldn't mind the Tarquins winning it as much, but it's three in a row and you cannot dispute how incredible that would be.

I am also too bothered about outside opinion. Winning three in a row wouldn't stop the criticism of our lack of success in Europe. Winning the CL and we are undeniably one of the greatest sides ever. But why not just win the league and CL and throw in the FA Cup too. A treble whilst picking up our third title in a row...magical!

Liverpool will always be overhyped but because Klopp has won everything once they don't get questioned the way we do despite being miles better consistently. Funny how they're not putting a comparative points tally over a select few seasons now isn't it!

I think you've missed my point. They're regarded as the greatest ever precisely because of the CL successes along with their domestic dominance. That team isn't in the conversation without their CL wins.

Tricky question

But I don’t think I would want to win a champs league Jose / Chelsea style and be bored rigid. This season perhaps aside Peps teams entertain.

And football should be entertaining.

Difficult call for me, but I probably rather have Pep.

Once Pep is gone, I think we will really miss him. Just ask Barcelona fans.
I recon if we hadn’t lost Tito, bless his soul, before his time, he’d still be running the show there and they’d have seen a lot more consistency.

Having said that, Martino and Enrique were solid and it was still all happy days for Barça until about the midpoint of Valverde’s reign.

We need to dump that semi cult like notion of playing the exact style of football across every City outlet..It makes us sound like Starbucks. Play to your strengths ,keep inventing new strategy and tactics that's how you stay at number 1.

Not a patch on AC Milan under Sacchi and Capello in a far stronger league.

It has to be the Champions League. Pep could leave, we could get relegated and when we are down in league 2 with 35,000 each week we can sing all about winning everything and dominating. We can dine off it forever more. Until we do, unfortunately the job hasn't been done.

It's the one the players, management, owners all want and it should be the ones us fans want now.
Did someone say Aston Villa?

This poll is nonsense. It's not realistic at all.

Pep has stated that he'll stay with us so long as it's fun, that he has influence, that he enjoys his job, if it's still challenging.

Perhaps he'll leave us if he wins the Champion's League - who knows? I don't think so though. He'll leave us if he's tired and no longer likes the job. City have bent over backward to ensure that Pep is surrounded by management that he likes - so getting tired may happen but we've done the best to prevent this.

Should Pep tire - what about a year or two or three off and then return? Pretty sure that City would offer this.
===
So - no vote in this poll for me.
I can definitely see that happening when he eventually does tire. Also don’t see him tiring any time soon

Luis Enrique is a great coach. he will go to chelsea by the way

You’re hinting at the European Cup, but I would argue they were the greatest of all time because of the way they steamrollered the domestic competitions week in, week out

(I voted for european cup and sayonara, btw)
