He’s not coming back to City, despite what he said in his press conference, so his only use to us now is to earn us as much money as possible!

Touché. Although, his greatest test will come when they play PSG in the champions league. He’s a top player no doubt, although letting him go was definitely the right decision to keep a unified camp during a crucial next few months. But, I also remember a few years back when he was hooked at half time away at PSG due to a poor showing defensively and replaced by Zinchenko. He didn’t play again in that competition that season.

Fingers crossed one of their midfielders man marks Mbappe out of the game or something, so our boy doesn’t get tested one on one!

Probably already been covered in this thread so forgive me if that's the case. But listening to Ste and Ahsan talking in the brilliant Esteemed Kompany channel it seem's he's really been acting like a dick so if we get a good fee for him in the summer we are well rid.
 
I have seen a few posts in this thread along the lines of "stupid decision". To those people let me ask you this...

If it was stupid then you are asserting this was done without a great deal of thought/on a whim due to Pep possibly seeing his arse? Could it not be Pep wanted to see the season out then clean house but has been left with no alternative than to act now due to issues getting so bad they threaten to derail our season and squad harmony?

My take is Pep thought he could manage us through to the end of the season but Cancelo has lost the plot and left him with absolutely no choice but to get him out asap. There were probably warnings about Cancelo's behaviour earlier but he has, in a very short time, gone nuclear to the point it was intolerable for him to stay.

I understand some people not happy he has gone to Bayern with no fee but equally that should tell you that it was very serious and such considerations were very very much secondary. The primary issue was getting him the hell out and quick, nevermind to who and for how much!

you see, I don't see like that because the room behind us, when better teams and players find a little bit of space to run in you can bet it comes from our so-called wing backs tuck in, so you're asking players to cover more ground when really you should be in a set back 4,

pep style is for players to pass and pass and move and move, never stand still, always look for space and look for taking the ball, that's why he likes the full back to tuck in so that he can take the ball from both midfield and centre of defence,

I like the old style wing backs when they overlap and help the likes of a Grealish or Foden by taking a player away, so they don't double up on them, I think if we had a world-class left back pep would revert to that style of play with Walker or Lewis at right wing back,

Cancelo is not a left wing back and the better teams and players quickly found that out
 
I think the Bayern coach is already testing him by taking him out when he was having a good game because Cancelo likes to play full games

This decision, which by the way is the right decision, might actually turn City's season around. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the mood in the changing room has changed for the better and we now go on a really good run of form.

Personally if we are going to play like that again, I think we will be looking at a right back as well as a left back. Walker can’t be bombing up and down wings at his age. He has slowed a lot for me recently and doesn’t look great to be honest. Lewis is still young. I can’t see him being a 40 games a season first choice for another season or two. I’ve a feeling there will be many more games like the Arsenal one this season. Not the most entertaining but a bit more controlled than we have been recently.
