PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

So.

Every season the PL audited our accounts for FFP purposes, etc.
And every season the PL were happy with our accounts and signed them off.
Not picking up on anything incorrect or suspicious.
Then 10 years later the PL, without warning, come up with a list of 101 irregularities in our accounts
if those irregularities exist in 2022, why didn’t they exist previously in every financial year when the PL checked our accounts?
And if they did, why didn’t the PL act on them at the time?

Pretty sure that regardless of guilty or not guilty for the financial side, we are going to be guilty and fined for the non cooperation.
But shit that we will be fined again for not cooperating with a kangaroo court.
They could just keep doing investigations on us then fining us millions when we don't help them.
On the 1st point, I agree - it’s a bit of a sickener because regardless, we’ll be guilty on 35 counts! Thus, every no-nothing will forever say we were found guilty on 35 counts of fraud yada yada! Fuck ‘em all

For your own sanity you need to severely lower your expectations.

Nothing like this will happen.

We're just defending ourselves to the best of the clubs ability in a Premier League inquiry. That's it.
We are all aware of the depth of intelligence our board have, lets hope they have cunning too. Imagine this;

In knowing that our club was being readied for a 'night of the long-knives' style que de gra by the odious four (Rags/Arse/Dippers/Spuds). We were secretly paying hackers/PIs etc to harvest dirt on those despicable clubs. Low and behold, we find an 'Aladins' Cave of absolute shit (corruption, deceit, underhanded dealings, irregularities yada yada). We lock it away for a rainy day. That rainy day is now upon us, let the shit storm unfold as our board threaten to unleash the plethora of smut. Watch the slimy feckers recoil (hopefully W****r is mentioned with a rent boy fetsish!! "We can but fantasise"!! ;) Afternote: Fantasise about the possibility of us gathering useful shit on the despicable 4, not about W****r and rent boys........ that would be just weird really :/

We're right to not cooperate with the cartel's puppet.

Did LFC know they shouldn’t be in there?
Call it what you like. The information/data was knowingly illegally obtained.
Of course it was illegally obtained. I'm just pointing out the difference, pinto hacked City, liverpool used stolen login and passwords from an ex employee, both are illegal but one is hacking the other isn't.

This is the bit that's baffled me. I suppose they started digging deeper after that German rag newspaper started stirring the shit. Didn't somebody say an ex employee has turned whistleblower? As you say they saw nothing wrong every year but suddenly accounts they supposedly passed they are now saying were fraudulent. That's a very serious allegation and if their evidence isn't 100% waterproof would surely leave them open to legal action.
the 100% waterproof bit as you say is the bit that bothers me, its not just city that have the best lawyers in town and for PL to act on what they have found would have been scrutinised by there lawyers prior to the charge any doubt from them and they wouldnt persue the charge, they cant be that stupid can they that they have gone into this like a bull in front of a red flag

They should be to be honest.

I posted a few weeks/months ago (when some journo made a snide remark that we were still under investigation) about how this entire situation is completely unacceptable, not just for City to be in a never ending investigation, but also for our competitors to have credible accusations levelled against us and it never come to a hearing to decide it once and for all.

Their owners are trying to sell the clubs at a time where the major competition has been accused and now charged by the league for getting away with cheating and fraud for 15 years completely unchecked.

Obviously that kind of thing is going to put off potential buyers. If you were looking to invest in a sport you want to know the rules you're accepting are being followed.

We're naturally looking at this entirely from the City POV, but to be honest I'm surprised more people aren't getting angry from the other clubs.
Yup, it's like an act of self harm by the Premier league.

Apologies if this has been posted, but i got sent this link which are apparently the hacked emails from Der Spiegel.

Der Spiegel did similar things with these. These are mostly standard work communications read by non-experts from a cynical position leaving out the wider context (or ignoring important parts often in the same Comms) because they desperately want it to be true. If City have been unclear about some aspects of their books, they're not talking like supervillains to each other about how one needs to be clean all the wrongdoing in order to not get caught.

In fact wasn't that £8m point a key part of CAS case? Worth reading at length to get the wider context of what City is saying is happening here, what their counter evidence was, and why the panel felt they couldn't rule on it if the only evidence is that specific email.

And here as well.

People said that before CAS, and it never happened then. I think it’s wishful thinking. At best we might be able to demonstrate that other clubs have been doing some of the things we’re accused of. The notion that we have something completely incendiary seems a little fanciful though.
At CAS we didn't need to go through the gears to demolish UEFA. Our lawyers won't be dramatic and fanciful - it won't be the Hollywood scene some are imagining. Our lawyers will be polite, professional, clear, mentally agile, all over the detail and relentless. Maybe our auditors will come along.

Or as Mark Chapman refers to us,
Manchess City.

(Apols, I realise that’s completely irrelevant to your post but it just triggered me after hearing him mispronounce our name for the zillionth time on telly tonight!
He wasn’t being critical of us, and I quite enjoy him as a presenter, but he always does it).

Anyway, grump over. We’ve got bigger things to moan about I guess…

The more I think of it.. the more I think relegation would be off the cards (and stripping titles)

City has Pep and Haaland, two of the biggest stars and attractions in world football, playing in the Premier League. City has rivalries with United and Liverpool, big for TV deals views.
TV companies paying for the Premier League product wont be happy losing City, Haaland et al.

City owners have pumped millions into the UK economy, the UK Government wont take kindly to them being fucked over.

Stripping titles leaves open the chance for lawsuits from clubs who were relegated or missed out on money from previous wins/champions league.

£100 M Fine, 15 points deduction and 2 Transfer window bans (after Summer). I think most would accept that?
If you think City would accept this you live in La La land. Not a cat in hells chance
