City pubs for Forest

Decades since I last went to Forest so knowledge of any "City friendly" pubs would be Helpful. Nottingham city centre seems to be over 2 miles away.
 
All coaches have been told to drive straight to the ground. No stopping off anywhere in or around Nottingham. In and out. Supporters branches and coach operators have been sent a Police notice and been warned. Told tonight at the branch meeting.
 
City centre pretty close to the ground, loads of good pubs, not sure what it is like on match day though. Opposite way from the station on Canal Street has some good pubs, but loads to chose from if you have time to walk further.

Seems a shame as Nottingham has plenty of great pubs to offer nearer the city centre. Not sure there’s that many allocated away pubs near the ground either. Went to see a game earlier this season and all the pubs close to the ground are full of Forest supporters. Think the only options are the Notts County sports club and the Stratford Haven which is further along from the Trent Bridge. If you’re arriving by train and have some spare time on your hands then I’d recommend walking along the canal or the castle has a few historic pubs around it. The Canal House or The Castle are good options. The city centre has pubs and bars everywhere you look but not sure what it’s like on a match day. I’d recommend the Cross Keys. If you’re looking for cheap pints then there’s always 3 spoons in town. I’ll be somewhere looking for a spare ticket ;)

Sounds like things have changed a lot since the 1990s. Back then we often drank in Larwood & Voce at the cricket ground which used to get packed with away fans but not sure if away fans are allowed in there these days. We'll be coming in on the train and should be there early doors so will give Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem a quick whirl as I've never been in there previously and will probably do the obligatory pint in Hooters then take it from there. As you say, The Broken Wheelbarrow at Meadow Lane lets away fans in so will probably end up there....eventually!

Has this been bumped up from 1988?
 
10 of us booked in hooters.

Were on the train though so wont be affected by what seems ott orders issued to supporters clubs.
 
Notts Police been restricting away fans to 1 or 2 pubs only several games this season. Like Wolves do.
See what they announce later in the week

Pretty sure the Larwood is still for away fans. My mates own it, so let me check and report back!

I think the Larwood and Voce is a home pub these days but might be wrong. Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is definitely worth a visit. Claims to be the oldest inn in England but there’s a few pubs in Notts that say the same thing.
 
I used to live in Nottingham. The Poppy and Pint is a good place. Good selection of beers. Friendly staff.

Larwood is not an away pub anymore. Plenty of good places to go near the ground if people keep their heads down.

Vat and Fiddle across from the train station, beers are brewed on site ( Castle Rock)
Loads of buses go to Trent Bridge from near the station.
