Peps comments after the match show his mindset

Its all about controlling the ball but i think he is tryign too hard....this is why we have seen Bernardo at full back recently helping control possession....its why we have two wingers who keep the ball and pass backwards and sideways all the time.....to keep the ball.....

However its now become so much about avoiding the counter attack the players either wont/cant or are scared to try and play it into the forwards. We saw it with Sane when Pep benched him ......Grealish and Mahrez and Gundogan keep the ball -unfortunately they do this by making negative passes all the time - and its now bcome a habit even when we dont necessarily need to do it...

With the penalty we would have. And that is without the benefit of the home support.
You know, i turned off the moment the whistle went. I haven't looked at the replays. Of course it's bent. We all know it's bent. That should make us attack more, to avoid the bentness effecting the results. If it was a penalty then fuck - but it wouldn't have changed the performance, just the result (which matters of course!!)

If we went gungho we would of been a lot worse position than we currently are. We are onto our third away game and have two more to come. We can't go flat out in every single game.
Not saying that.
We have enough possession of the football to make it count.
No need for gungho

There is a middle ground between gung ho and paint drying football. Most clubs find it. We haven't consistently found that this season.

Performance doesn't matter away from home (icing on the cake if it was).

Better opposition tonight, always gonna be harder, though frustrating in the end.
trouble is that even though you are right they. are a much better team, there were clear opportunites where all our midfielders had the option to put a ball in behind the defence and they dont do it.....Pep even mentioned this in an around about way in his post match comments saying something like that "Mahrez and Grealsih and Gundo make the extra pass" - well they are doing it far far too often and its becoming a very bad habit - no one is taking risks anymore....at least Sterling use to try and take a risk or take someone on,,,,no one is doing that from anywhere

If that's what you think, i respect that, for me though - send a fucking message - or AT LEAST TRY and score more than one goal away from home. We never looked interested after we took the lead...and that's where performance and the result meet.

We sparred with them first half. Second half with the home crowd behind them got had an extra bit of zip but in the end we did enough to control them and have stayed in the tie.

There were times in the Champions League we did and we have got easily picked off.

You're a glass half full man...and i have one of them to hand so fair play to you. To me, we have left ourselves vulnerable - against a team that is 5th in a farmers league, with their best attacking player on the subs bench and Timo FUCKING Werner in the game. We might go through - but then what?

We have taken risks and got really punished.

Yes agreed, he went wide to Jack tonight when Erling was screaming for it. Why ?
People keep on saying it’s Pep, but what can he do when the buildup gets the players in these positions and they simply refuse to make the obvious pass? He only attempts to pass it through to him when it’s too late or he literally can’t do anything else, and it breaks down. I don’t understand it.

Kane lol. He would stuggle and he would of been part of our injuries this season if that was the case.
Kane would be quality...for all those who believe we are better with a false number 9 - kane is perfect. Quick Edit - I think Haaland is better - the moment pep reminds players you can pass forwards.
