But not allowed to air it because he's paid a lot of money? I'm struggling to see the rest of your context - unless you're suggesting only 650 people in the country are allowed an opinion?of course he's allowed an opinion - you clearly didn't read the context.
That’s actually a version of MOTD that I think I’d prefer tbh.No presenter or punditry tomorrow on MOTD
The show is fucked unless they backtrack. No presenter with an ounce of self-respect will want to touch this with a 1000ft pole now.“No studio presentation or punditry” tomorrow.
It’s been burnt by the authorities…Sorry people, after searching, I can’t find his original tweet? What did it say?
He doesn't work for the BBC. He's employed by the firm that produces MOTD and so on for the BBC. Outsourcing. Quite a Tory favourite free-market idealist thing. He’s perfect entitled to his personal opinion but if he works for the BBC he should be neutral and not publicly argue with the govt (even as one as useless as this). It’s not difficult.
Prue Leith. Pro-Brexit. It is normal. It has always been normal for BBC employees not involved in current affairs to retain their rights of freedom of expression. The argument regarding current affairs presenters was that it was inappropriate for them to speak on issues because people may mistakenly believe they were carrying out their BBC duties when doing so.I'm sure there must have been at least one BBC employee to tweet something in favour of government policy in the past. Why weren't these people removed from their positions within days. I think we know why. Impartiality is only a facade where the BBC and the government is concerned.
See the sky report earlier. The BBC is the Tory tool now. ITV news is far more analytical as the master is not the Tory party. That is the reality. BBC may now be no longer useful for news.I'm sure there must have been at least one BBC employee to tweet something in favour of government policy in the past. Why weren't these people removed from their positions within days. I think we know why. Impartiality is only a facade where the BBC and the government is concerned.
I'm suggesting it's easy to have a go from a lofty perch... if you wanna change things, you can take another (maybe less lucrative route) and actually do something positive. Don't take the hundreds of thousands of riyal if you are genuinely concerned about human rights or working conditions. Give me a million-pound grace and favour apartment and elect me president for life and I'll be your leader all the way to you losing your job and me keeping my gold-plated pension, paid for by those that lost the job. I hope he does become an MP, I may vote for him - I don't think for one minute that he would take the pay cut though. But not allowed to air it because he's paid a lot of money? I'm struggling to see the rest of your context - unless you're suggesting only 650 people in the country are allowed an opinion?

Regardless though, this is an absolute clusterfuck by the BBC/government. They’ve backed themselves into a corner here.
Does that mean Tory K will be "on holiday" this Sunday? The moment someone says something that’s not ‘impartial’ now, they’ll have to act to show that they themselves are impartial.
True.Sadly by having taken control of the BBC the way they have, the government is in a win win situation. Either they get to convert the BBC into a compliant client broadcaster or they get to kill it off as it's traditional defenders become increasingly alienated from it. Just one more thing they'll try and chuck onto the dumpster fire before they are turfed out.
Massively stupid precedent to set - what sort of clown is running the beeb - oh just remembered it’s Bozo’s “dealer” - just like the old topic advert everything becomes clear in the endThe moment someone says something that’s not ‘impartial’ now, they’ll have to act to show that they themselves are impartial.
A big ol' juicy asset to carve up and sell to their mates for pittanceSadly by having taken control of the BBC the way they have, the government is in a win win situation. Either they get to convert the BBC into a compliant client broadcaster or they get to kill it off as it's traditional defenders become increasingly alienated from it and it finds itself with no friends. Just one more thing they'll try and chuck onto the dumpster fire before they are turfed out.
