I think people will miss the commentators a lot more than the pundits, even if a lot will claim they prefer it. Unless they use some other broadcaster’s commentary of course.

Really depressing state of affairs , already got so many oddball right wing channels. Could really do with the BBC maintaining its balance in spite of the Tory threats

I said this months ago in this same thread - I would rather the BBC endured, and took a "bend don't break" point of view because this government is not forever. They will be voted out, and as tonight has shown the rank and file journalists, presenters and talent at the BBC believe in its neutrality and founding principles.

Hopefully in a few years we'll be looking at this as a dark chapter in the BBC's storied history that it's recovering from instead of the final chapter.

I’ve always defended the BBC as we need a service that tries its best to be impartial- but definitely now worried it’s going down a very slippery right wing path and todays decision is not a good look

They haven't been impartial for years.

It's only now that certain people are realising it.

I find Sky and the woeful BT much worse than the BBC but any broadcast without an extended version of why United and Liverpool won, drew, lost would be very welcome. It has got to be an improvement.

SKY and BT have far more money to offer than the BBC - why do you think the BBC gets highlights and the others get live? Money talks and thats how contracts work.

that's why the get the live games not the highlights as they pay more for the live games and not the highlights. I've no idea what you're argument is and you clearly don't know what a contract is
