The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

I didn't say he did compare with the Holocaust?

He's associated the Tories with the Nazis, which is just plain wrong regardless of the semantics of interpreting his language.
Just out of curiosity, what political party can be associated with the Nazis in the UK?

I Sweden we have neo-nazis leading the second largest party (Sweden democrats) and I see similarities with the policies the tories are promoting.

Ian Wright last weekend and his ridiculous over-celebrating was an absolute disgrace, I lost all respect for him, which I had loads of after watching the documentary on him. Now I just look at him and think ****
He'll be cheering Palace on tomorrow, so good job he has self-silenced.

No idea how you profess to know that.

I'm not a Jordan fan but he sums it up very well imo.

I'll take the word of the person who actually signed the contract rather than some rent-a-quote gobshite from TalkSport who chooses to quickly dismiss the two most pertinent points: that Linekar isn't a BBC employee and doesn't work in news or current affairs.

wonder what changed - oh yeah the Govt needed a distraction

I dislike the motd commentary more than the punditry. Totally fake and overdubbed after the fact to suit whatever angle needs pushing (imho)
I was watching Sergio Aguero 100 premier league goals on sky this afternoon.
It is unbelievable how miserable some commentators were when he scored for us. Especially Tyler. Watching goal after goal you can here the differences.
It is not generally understood (by non City fans) how the tone, pitch, enthusiasm, and positivity of a commentator can give a completely misleading narrative to the viewer.
Watch any red top game and the way a positive is wound into any incident by the commentator tells me there is a real agenda against City. No fecking doubt about it!!

But it’s not wrong. Much of the language used by the Tories and their policies bear a striking resemblance to the Nazis in the1930’s.

Here are just a few off the top of my head.

1. Control of the media
2. Removal of worker’s rights
3. Repeated lies
4. Targeting minorities (asylum seekers)
5. Squashing dissent both inside and outside of the party. All dissenters to the direction of the part were removed before the 2019 GE.
6. International isolation.
7. Removing power of the courts
8. Interference in the election process. The Electoral Commission is now under government control. Photo ID to vote makes voting much more difficult for sections of society.

I could go but have things to do.

Amazing the headlines this is generating. Man breaks work guidelines and gets sacked from.prsenting job is essentially what has happened.

Lineker and Shearer were tedious in the extreme, look at the positives people. Shearer in particular was truly awful.

No one down the pub tonight gave a two hoots about Lineker or his supposed virtuous stance. Im thinking that represents the vast majority of British people.
Well, over 100 pages already on a forum for a club he never had anything to do with and you posting at 12.30am is a little at odds with the vast majority not giving a shit about it.

I am allowed an alternative opinion. For the record I don't agree with what Sunack and Braverman are doing policy wise, but I think Lineker should not have made that comparison. I also don't particularly like the man or the team, Ian Wright aside, that do MOTD so it's no loss for me. But accept that's a complete aside.

Probably already been said a dozen times, but the employment line would have 10 million people in it if everyone’s boss gave their employees social media the same scrutiny, in five years time people will be sacked for saying
“I can’t be assed with work” online…one thing Lineker shouldn’t of done is mix work with his online presence, creates too many grey areas

This is simultaneously the most stupid and the most hilarious outcome imaginable. Sunak has had his French trip upstaged as the story now is, how Nazi is the Govt, and is the BBC a Govt mouthpiece, run by right wing political appointees.

All because of one fucking tweet that would have been forgotten about 24 hours later if they had possessed the good sense to ignore it. Instead, they went into full frothing hysteria mode (as did a couple of posters on here) and now the affair is eating everyone alive.

Unbelievable, Jeff!

Imagine if pundits now get themselves out of a job, as the bbc and public realise they actually prefee the highlights without the chat. Longer term, can't see this blowing over quickly, what are they going to do, get them all back next week, and let them all sit passive-aggressively while football almost becomes secondary.

People will pretend it’s so much better without commentators or pundits - but eventually will switch to a channel that does have them as football without them on TV is simply not the same
