The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

Like Neville and others, Lineker uses his media profile to air political views. I've no problem with that. He works for a national broadcaster though and so there is a difference. Jump to itv or go back to BT and no problem for me. But you don't get two be in BBC as it is and use it to sell your own message.

Personally I wouldn't employ anyone who refused to work on the football today if they were contracted to. Give opportunity to others and let them find their feet. Let the football be the product, not the personality. Not that there's a single person I'd miss from the list of people who have withdrawn.

Potential to be the least biased and most informative motd in years if they manage it right.

It's been said a million times. It would be all well and good if the BBC actually had a policy like that but they don't!

They ask political and news editors and presenters to remain 'impartial' (quotation marks because even that is questionable) and that is it.

The issue with this is, he isn't towing the government line. All he did was question the language used by the government and compared it to a previous regime that used similar language and they took him off air. That is ridiculous.

Striking due to mistreatment in the workplace is completely reasonable and if you never hired somebody because they stand up for others then you'd lose a lot of good workers.

but as another poster said you can't equate that rule to Sugars tweets

You mean The Right Honourable The Lord Sugar, Baron Sugar of Clapton. Knighted by New Labour in 2000, elevated to the House of Lords by Gordon Brown in 2009 and the present government's Enterprise Czar.

Net worth £1.21bn

Im saying the thread shouldnt have been started....
I'll start what thread I want thanks, if you don't like it (the majority seem to have taken it for how it was intended) then feel free to sod off somewhere else, meanwhile you can always get back to moaning about City, there'll be a match thread along later.

I'd only agree with that if the BBC itself was unbiased - years covering Johnsons arse and not daring to mention Brexit amongst other things has tainted the corporation.

No 5Live Sports this afternoon now - reality 100 - BBC 0 - scorers - BBC og x 100

5 live affected as well.

Keown will step up, when folk mention small boats he thinks of this....

Lineker will walk into another job on the BT or Sky channels, so will his ponies that have backed him,
MOTD been dead for years and who would miss it anyway, you get all the highlights a couple of mins after the games have finished on the Internet,

Football and politics don't mix and once you cross each other's boundaries you get into this sort of trouble,

I wish the so called experts don’t return,we should get more football instead of pointless views
just hope it spreads to other sports eg F1 which on a typical race consists of box ticking, useless facts and spouting Shite for 4 hrs for a 1-2 hour race
this could end up like when customs at the airports went on strike and the process ran better,I hope so

Still wouldn't really be funny, tbf.
No the picture wouldn't.

I would find amusement that someone of the mindset to create it actually knew the difference, as clearly anything they disagree with is smug, lefty, woke, etc without any understanding or inteligent thought gone into it

Im saying the thread shouldnt have been started....

to ignore the Lineker "stuff" as you put it to start a thread about how its going to be better now he (or various other presenters) are not on the tv now (tonight or in the future) is to minamilise what has happened.....esp when for some people their only complaint with either Lineker or any of the others that host/co-host that programme is that they may have said things against city in the past that they disagree with..at this point Man City dont matter one fucking bit when you are talking about peoples lives.

More people start watching cause the pundits arenot on...BBC win and justifies their actions/stance on this......

Ill leave it to your morals to decide what is best and that is up to you and if you watch it then fine
Why is this thread such a problem for you ?
If you want to comment on Lineker and what he said go in the politics thread.
This thread is about whether Motd will be better without inane waffle.

No advert about it.

Another podcast on in place of 5live sport.

They are currently re-running yesterday afternoon schedule - expect Elis and Jon next then around 4,30pm Tony Livesey will announce the BBC have released a statement saying Lineker is stepping back as they re-run last nights Drive............... its just embarrassing for them now

Glad the bbc are getting a kicking , they should never have bowed to tory pressure like this and i support gary and all those backing him , lets hope the bbc lose their ties to the tories on the back of this

The tories have shifted the story away from their cruel policies and language , helped by the media and right wingers unfortunately
