The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

I thought you were in Malaysia now. Got to be more hassle getting MOTD on than watching the free Astro highlights.

BTW, if you're still there, get on Sooka. 12 quid a month for everything except the EFL Cup.
Astro is wank. I put up with it only for the live City games.

My TV runs through a DNS and thus believes it’s in the U.K. so I have all the U.K. tv apps like BBC, ITV, NowTV etc etc.

Funny a fuck watching all the Lefties getting upset at cancel culture.

You're falling for the left vs right culture war which is what this Government wants.

If you believe that 'the left' is in favour of a cancel culture then I'd question what you've been reading.

I suspect they did “have a quiet word“ and were politely told to fcuk off.

Quiet words and carefully worded statements from both sides would have been the only way to stop this escalating.

It will be interesting to see who blinks first.
This is already much bigger than just Match of the Day but about the impartiality of the propaganda wing of the self-servatives that will bring a whole new level of scrutiny on the upper echelons, political editors and presenters that they REALLY don't want.

Well done Bristol Rovers who were the first to come out and actually say they would not be doing interviews before or after their game today.

I see the BBC have said they will not be requesting interviews at any grounds. I'd loved to have seen who did respond and say no and who didn't! I bet Karren Brady at West Ham would have made sure that they cooperated with the BBC and made their manager and players be interviewed!!

Given the TV commentators are presumably not going, I wonder who would have done the interviews at PL matches.

Like Neville and others, Lineker uses his media profile to air political views. I've no problem with that. He works for a national broadcaster though and so there is a difference. Jump to itv or go back to BT and no problem for me. But you don't get two be in BBC as it is and use it to sell your own message.

Personally I wouldn't employ anyone who refused to work on the football today if they were contracted to. Give opportunity to others and let them find their feet. Let the football be the product, not the personality. Not that there's a single person I'd miss from the list of people who have withdrawn.

Potential to be the least biased and most informative motd in years if they manage it right.
It was perfectly acceptable for him to highlight Human Rights abuses in Qatar during the World Cup both on Social Media and on the BBC but when he highlights proposed Human Rights abuses in the United Kingdom by the party his director general and governor bankroll it becomes a problem about "impartiality"
Blatant hypocrisy from the propaganda wing of the self-servatives.

The BBC have suspended Lineker "For breaking their guidelines on impartiality". The point is, not what he tweeted per se, but whether, under his contract, he is allowed to comment on political matters.
It is a matter of fact if he signed up to any restrictive covenant or not.

Linekers a prick.

We REALLY do have a huge problem with illegal immigration. We cant have boat loads coming over without any sort of limits or checks. We have to do something, we need to find the ones who need our help and restrict the ones that dont.
Lineker saying what he said isnt a help.

Revert to what it was years ago, no punditry, highlights would be twice as long. Five minutes showing the match then five minutes of let's chat shit. Give me ten minutes of the match.

It’s not going to be as straightforward as that though, is it? Any restrictive covenant is not going to expressly state that he cannot tweet about comparing the UK government to Nazis. I expect it will be worded in such a way as to allow for interpretation and argument.

It is not a huge problem at all, the tories have a massive backlog of claims of their own making , 75% of those assessed are granted leave to stay , the are hyping up the numbers coming here in boats to dog whistle , racist, brexitiers and right wingers in the hope they will back them at the next election , they could clear the backlog but they actually dont want to as it doesnt suit them to do it

Again , gary is talking about the language being used , he is correct

But they didn't when he was impartially tweeting stuff they supported.

This is China level stuff. Only allowed to say what the govn likes?!
