The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

Motd will die without the commentary and pundits. We know football, so we don't really need that fluff. But most casual viewers don't, and that will turn them off.
If I watched rugby, or curling, or water polo without a commentator I would still enjoy the spectacle, but I'd be lost when contentious, or tactical, stuff happens.
In some respects I agree. That is what Motd should be, perhaps they will now ditch all the has beens and get new blood in. Its a tired format, this might force a change

Not bothered about the lack of pundits, most of them are a waste of time.

Bit of a shame for Linaker to get a red card off the BBC when he never got one playing the game.

I feel as if I’m in the middle of a Hieronymus Bosch painting… which as everyone knows is the definition of insanity!! The whole world is driving me that way. I’m afraid for the younger generations.
For the first time since I became sick I am glad that I’m old and won’t be around to see what they are making of this world.
And yet...

As terrible as things seem, even now, humanity overcomes. I have much hope that this time too - kindness and empathy prevail.

Fingers and toes crossed. At least we have City to look forward to.

Sorry I was negative in the Bosch posting. I’ve had a bad day and it got to me. I’m back to optimism now.
Thank you as well @BlueMoonAcrossThePond for your optimism.

Come 5.30 you can focus on Stones’ thighs and eyes :-)

Just seen a video Wright put out when Le Tiss and Co. were sacked. Points out to ‘3 middle-aged white guys’.

Anyone put some meat on the bones about that? Didn’t know that had even happened. I thought they’d just left on their own accord some years ago.

Funny a fuck watching all the Lefties getting upset at cancel culture.
Might just be worth remembering that the process that ends in genocide is not necessarily the exclusive province of either the Left or the Right.

That process is described in this chilling documentary:

As for those supplying the ideology that fuels the descent into tyranny, the same point applies, as no political party necessarily has a monopoly on populism.

Who have 'the left' cancelled? There's lots of tabloid bullshit about 'the left' cancelling people however.
There are loads of examples.
You can't buy National Front News outside grounds anymore, you aren't allowed to throw bananas at players, monkey chants can lead to a criminal record and banned from the ground, you can't even racially abuse players on Social Media in case you get reported to the police.
No wonder there are people complaining about a former footballer complaining about human rights abuses.

They haven't cancelled anyone. They've called out some racists, misogynists, and generally bigoted individuals; and apparently that makes them woke. But cancelling somebody that speaks out against an appalling immigration policy, and against language that strays tentatively close to xenophobia and racism? Crack on. It makes you patriotic, or some such bullshit.

Think the bbc will be looking for new presenters
I would love the job my qualifications include being able to talk Shite fluently, stating the obvious

Well you won’t get the gig you don’t meet the criteria. You need to have played for Liverpool.

most of em work for other broadcasters so they're not really putting jobs on the line, just one of they're many gigs, it's not like they'll all be down the food bank is it

not really the point
They didn’t have to stand by this decision but they have. All credit to them.

Your point is?
There isn't a point other than letting us know he watched the big gob covid denier moaning on GB News.

Why would Ian Wright be expected to show solidarity with people he didn't work with and at a rival broadcaster, who are as far as I'm aware aren't friends?

Le Tissier was let go as a commercial decision, if the BBC had let go of Linekar in similar circumstances and appointed someone younger and/or cheaper he would be perfectly entitled to say he didn't want to work there as well because he didn't fit in. But I'm not sure there would be a point of declaring "solidarity" when there weren't any political reasons at play.

Most are freelancers and not slaves so can't be forced to do anything. I've done freelance work - at one place it was so shit I had enough and at the end of the day said I was going and wouldn't be back. Nobody came and dragged me out of bed the next day. No legal action was taken against me - not worth their time and money to do it.

New talent? Where do you think they are hiding at the moment? Listen to local radio and see how amateurish they are - maybe they can employ most of Talkshite's staff - I am sure you'd appreciate the delights of MotD presented by the boiled bollock ( would have to be on earlier though can't see them keeping him sober until midnight ) with Twatterface on commentary.

Rather like the BBC you haven't thought that one through.
The people who you freelanced for obviously thought you was shit as well. Plenty of talent out there: Nedum Onuha for one. Think before you post.
