He’ll be back in 2/3 weeks so hardly a season ending injury. Grealish playing well, Alvarez capable of hurting anyone and Mahrez is pretty reliable. We have more than enough to cope without either of em for a couple of weeks.

Gutted for Phil, going to miss some big games but if it is only 2/3 weeks he could come back just as we need him (assuming everything is still to play for).

playing the wildcard, I've swapped him back out so expect a miraculous recovery

Yep I think he'll definitely be back for the away leg if it's just micro key-hole surgery. FINGERS CROSSED

That said Bernardo did a very good job against Leipzig with his pressing and Julian in midfield.

So we definitely have options. THINK POSITIVE guys.

Firstly, it goes without saying that Phil's health is the most important thing. Appendicitis can be serious if not found quickly, thankfully it seems he'll be fine.

This is a massive blow for us, there's no dressing it up. Phil was coming to the boil nicely, and a big source of goals and creativity.

Jack and Riyad are going to be flogged now, and if Bernardo has to play on the right it means even less rest for Kev and Gundo.

Cole and Kalvin have to step up now, we'll need to rely on them if we're going to have any chance of winning the big prizes.

Good for him (and everybody) that appendicitis and the attendant surgery has moved on so far. I had it when I was about ten. I was misdiagnosed and the doctor didn't get what it was. About a week later I was in such agony that I was falling off the bed on to the floor and writhing around. Second doctor was called in and, believe me, they had me down that hospital in double quick time. It didn't rupture (that can be life threatening) but it was close run. They gave me the pre-med virtually as I was walking in the door (or rather, hobbled in clutching my stomach), and they had me in the theatre just as fast as protocol would allow.
No keyhole in those days. I still have the visible scar from it nearly sixty years later. It's always bad to get it as an adult (if you're going to get it at all), but Phil should be o.k. within two to three weeks. As the name suggests, it's an appendage — and not a useful one at that. It's a leftover from evolution.

Devastating news for Phil and City but it may have been a background niggle so best sorted before it became serious.

In the past it was 4-6 weeks out. With modern surgery it should be much less. You can never be sure.
