Also, a season out of Europe’s premium competition is good for a rebuild as it allows a manager to clear a bit of deadwood and get back to basics. My point is how much do they really want to win?

They can forget CL football, but they need Europa. They'd probably take Conference League. No European football is a disaster for boardroom, manager, players and fans. It's not a positive at all. Recruitment, contract extensions, match day spending, television rights, how much fans would miss mid-week games.

How would that work exactly? Are they all in on it? Does Klopp tell them to throw the game as part of his team talk before the game, or does he tell each player individually? Or does he not know about it, and the players do it behind his back?

Agreed. Anything can happen but given the difference in respective form between the two of you, it’s difficult to imagine anything other than a resounding victory for City. (Also, my remark was a bit tongue in cheek. Saints and prayer…geddit?)
