You mean like 70% of the time the team sheet is announced.
pep is a comfort blanket for those that can’t accept that Chelsea played better than us in the final and individual performances from our lot were sub standard.
Hardly anyone complained about the team sheets in the semi-finals or the quarter-finals, unlike the final.
Were Chelsea that good to restrict a fluid Manchester City team without a shot on target. ?

We collectively failed. Pep takes his share like with any loss. Win together, lose together. Not right to state he is accountable and responsible though. Just like it wasn’t entirely down to him we minced Bayern. Was Southampton in the Carabou cup this season all down to Pep too?

The Southampton cup game is totally different. We had just played Chelsea back-to-back and had to play United and Tottenham afterwards, all these games were played with 3 days gap between each other. Pep had no other option but to de-prioritize the least important game of the lot.

This is a tired old debate but the players cannot use Pep’s exam selection as an excuse for their many individual underperformances and that means the fans can’t either but still do.
I can’t believe some are still holding on to this. The game was lost immediately the final whistle went. As Ruben said, it’s all part of the learning experience. Be sad for a few days but fuck sake, still playing the blame game however many years later is just fucking sad.

The game was lost the minute he revealed his team sheet.

I find it equally sad that you think you can tell others how to react.

I’m sorry for your hurt mate but carrying that emotional scarring around so long really isn’t good for anyone. if you won’t take advice from a fellow blue, Elsa will help;

now for all that is holy please can we move on from that fucking game.

You're in the minority pal. Playing an out of sorts Sterling cost us, but Pep's biggest blunder wasn't not playing Rodri, it was not playing Fernandinho.

When Chelsea read our team sheet it gave them hope and belief. When i read our team sheet it left me feeling dread, as did most blues I've spoken to.
As soon as I saw the line up to play Chelsea it felt like deja vu to the Porto game where I read the teamsheet screamed 'Why" and put whatever I had left in my betting account on them to win at 9/1. It was covid and I had taken the kids to Butlins. Lager was £6.00 a pint but Peps over thinking that night paid for my beer for the rest of the week away.

The selection for the final was met with disapproval. No disputing that.

By way of comparison for a recent example, the selection for the home game against Leipzig was met with equal disapproval.

These words sound familiar? (A clue - they are your words)
"Yet another Pep 11.
4 centre backs and a midfield that's slow as fuck.
We are there for the taking, and its absolutely unnecessary"

Was Leipzig another game lost the minute he revealed the team sheet?

Rewatched the chumps league final yesterday and what people seem not to mention is that Chelsea had a game plan and nulified us, they executed it perfectly.
They played well and deserved it, we should've had a pen though with the Reece James incident!

Despite your effort to dig out past comment and belittle, which is a cunts trick but happens far too often on this forum.... (a clue - the forum has more than its fair share).......the circumstances are completely different.

Pep changed a winning team, one that would have pissed that final, and he did it for no good reason.

No problem with anyone being a happy clapper and thinking Pep can never do no wrong(and he rarely does in fairness as he is genuinely a genius) but some of us also recognise different......its allowed.

Out of genuine curiosity, what’s the end game here? Is it to dig out Pep for something that happened 2 years ago or just have a debate about it?

I think a lot of us will admit Pep fucked up that 2021 final (I’m amazed some think he didn’t) but he’s got more than enough credit in the bank to allow it IMO. Regardless of how monumental the fuck up was.

Nail on head,no more than that buddy.

I'll only properly get over that night when we win the comp.

And despite what others think.....that is my right as a supporter of over 40 years.

They deserved it, we didn't. We just didn't turn up. Have removed from memory and emptied the recycle bin :)

How many Managers in the history of football have forced a rule change. The new goal kick rule is a direct link to Pep. We are so so lucky to have him.
