To be honest when major events are shown live on both BBC and ITV the viewing figures for ITV are very poor.

TV coverage on both ITV and BBC would go on from early morning with all sorts of special programmes. I was looking back at the 1st All Merseyside FAC final in 1986 To refresh my memory of how all of that was put across. It was all perceived as the friendly final - I’m sure many fans will dispute that though. Somehow I can't see red & blue mixing like this (watch 9 mins to 11ish) today nor do I see City & Utd fans help their rivals climb into the stadium either.
